I think its due to many more loads and irregular cycles on batteries. Parasitic drains from alarms,  cameras (parking ones stay on even if you lock the car) and so on   older cars, less complex systems, much more regular high loads and charges, keeps battery healthy.   Just my thoughts.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I think that the more you use the bike the longer the battery will last, when I was commuting to work and a bike was my only transport, I can't remember ever having to buy a battery.

thanks for the info BTW, very useful.  :onya:

Too late for a lithium I have already bought and fitted a new battery.

What I wonder about lithium batteries is that they require dedicated lithium chargers, which you can buy, as their cells are 3.6/3.7 v and have to be balanced, BUT the bikes own charging system is set up for lead acid batteries ??

I have dedicated lithium chargers as i used to fly model planes powered by lipo's, so I'm not scared by them, but I have seen these batteries explode in mid air thru misuse and ignorance of how they charge etc.

I don't want to burn down Dibley Towers.... :coffeescreen:

Anyway fitted the battery and completed the foot rest hanger clean up.

I had to get my Garth on to crack the bolts that hold the rear master cylinder , so I checked the torque settings for them... 10Nm, I bet they were at 50  There are some dickheads out there.

I polished the brake lever and put it all back together, that little spring (the fatter of the two) that pulls the lever back up, is a bugger aint it ?

I used the old "pull with a bit of wire" trick, I couldn't juggle the tool and the spring and the hanger and the bolts all at once.. :coffeescreen:

Going back to batteries........Shouts of "boring" in the background. lol

I don't think most people look at batteries as a "consumable" like they do with oil, brake pads, hydraulic oil etc.

I mean some people don't look at oil as one either... That's another story :coffeescreen:

But, I think with more than one bike, the batteries will suffer from lack of use, if you get me.
I just need to get out on them more, if life doesn't keep getting in the way.

All three now have new batts, dates noted for monitoring purposes.

I'm retired FFS, should be out everyday, 20 miles on the pushy and the a blast on a bike.   :onya:

It gets harder after 14 or 15 vehicles.
