I had some fun today, but not on my 1400. I was in fact on my bicycle and I overtook a 1400. The Guy took offence and decided to give me a bollocking about the 1.5m rule, and he was only 0.5m away while doing it. :rofl2:  :rofl2:

Anyway while he ranted I recognised him from school and the local Cafe, and challenged him to a race.

I dunno if he had recognised me from the get go,and was taking the piss, but he defo knew it was me at the end as he gives me a thumbs up.

All good fun.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

I dunno, I didn't know he had a 14.

Well, the old girl passed her MOT with flying colours today.

She was much faster on the way back home as well :coffeescreen:

Tester pointed out some pitting on the forks, which I knew about and he suggested gaiters. Apparently, they are not allowed to lift them during the MOT, and as long as any leaks from the seals don't come past the gaiters you won't be given a fail.
My seals are good, as we changed them last year, but a good little tip if you can't be arsed.

There's a tyre place on ebay selling legs for £140 the pair currently. No idea if they're a decent make but it's cheaper than rechroming.

Fitting gaiters would make it look like an enduro bike, glad it passed the mot, nice looking m'cycle.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Dwain Dibley

Cheers Hooli, I did have a squint online earlier, and that price is about the average for a set. I have no problems yet with the new seals, as I gave the legs a real good smoothing out, but it may be a good idea to get a pair put by when I can afford it.

Also, Chroming may be a thing of the past soon, with new legislation coming through, in the UK at least ?
DLC coating being the way to go ?

So when I looked at the filter I had, it wasn't a fit for my 14, (I thought it was, but I dunno what it fits) so I ordered one and it came yesterday.
I dropped the oil and changed the filter today. I could have done with changing the oil drain plug, but hey-ho.
I forgot to take the vent plug out of my oil catcher and it overflowed. So I had to cut the affected area out and replace it with tiles, as I didn't want to ride thru it every time I took a bike out.

It was a shame to throw the oil out as it was nice and clean, but I can use it for other things around the place. I have another 3 gallons to take to the tip.

Lubed the chain as well while I was down there.

Now brace yourselves for a sexy pic or two...

So what oil filter was it on there?  The 14 takes a HF138 oil filter.   Still no word from Vlad on his CX either . . .
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Dwain Dibley

Yes, it was a HF138, which is what I replaced it with.
I thought I had one on the shelf, but it's a crossland, and I don't know why I thought it was for the 14.
I like to keep a filter or two and a coupla gallons of oil in stock as it were, sometimes there is a deal to be had for buying multiples.

Re the CX, they are a great bike to work on, old skool......swap out the CDI for a unit that supplies power for the coils (spark) from the battery and you're good to go. Tax and MOT free too.

I also keep a stock of oil & filters on hand, for the cars & the 4 bikes, all different filters & oil, mind you, the quads aren't fussy, they'll use whatever I give them, usually the same as the GSX.

A comment in that reminds me, I need to order some crush washers. The previous idiot who had Mk2 replaced it with a copper washer and you have to overtighten the drain plug to stop it leaking.

Dwain Dibley

yeah, the bolt is only torqued at 23 Nm. Not much at all, and you can damage the sump if you over tighten too much.

Your 14 looks good, Fumoto much better option than messing with sump plug IMO. CX500, told Vlad about another bloke with 2 of them in bits stored away. Not a bike that does much for me but your choice.

Dwain Dibley

How far does the fumoto valve hang down under the sump Grog, I just looked at them....5" long  127mm.
Do you have a pic of yours.
