An unexpected but pleasant surprise came in the form of a message from fellow GSX owner Chris @BOA asking if I was up for a meet up and a short run around his patch.

I was against the clock at first and running into some severe congestion around Bromsgrove I was forced into a Motorway run out to Stratford on Avon before a short journey on better roads to the Touchdown Café at Wellesbourne airfield.

Following a mug of tea and a catch up, we rode on to the National Herb Centre near Banbury where another café awaited with a bit of outside seating giving views over the South Warwickshire / North Oxfordshire countryside.

Feeling that we were not quite done with the day and enjoying the sunshine and good riding temperatures, we moved on to The Piston Club at the Stag in the direction of Alcester where we sat with a couple of zero alcohol beers and watched a variety of bikes come and go.

There, we parted company and I made a circuitous way back to Stourbridge whilst Chris turned back toward his home in Stratford.

Much as I enjoy riding on my own it's still good to have a run out with another sensibly paced rider, especially when it opens up roads and routes that I would have not considered on my own. Not sure how accurate the map is, it is a bit harder to record when you are not leading the ride, but I think it is thereabouts.

Good to meet up with you again Pete. T'was a lovely day for a ride. The route you show isn't quite right, but hey!

Aka Chris Leam on the original Org.

Not today but last Saturday I went on a ride from Tauranga on the East Coast to Raglan on the West Coast withthe Bay of Plenty BMW Owners Club.
The day started with a bit of drama. No more than 500m from where we met up I got driven into at the traffic lights. We were turning left and the clown car driver behind me decided they needed to pass me running me out of room and hitting my right side. We were only going slow and I was able to use my shoulder and push myself away from the car. Luckily I got away with that one. Just a little reminder to never be complacent.
Anyway we had a good 330km ride on a fabulous clear blue sky day.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Glad that you were able to have a pleasant ride after the initial scare. It must be the phase of the moon, but I've seen more brainless car drivers this week than usual.
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

You could be onto something. I wheeled my 990 Adventure off the lift on Monday for the first time since I bought it in August last year. Went for a very steady roll no more than 5km from home on quiet roads and had 4 near misses before I'd even turned around to head home!

Agree, something in the moon, air, whatever. Today, lunatic in outside lane of roundabout, its left turn only,  not straight thru. How he missed me and everyone around as he drove straight ahead, sure was close.

Rode the Zephyr 750 to Pickering Brook this morning. Always a good day checking out the bikes and having breakfast & coffee.

We've got some crap weather coming over the next few days, so I took the Rocket for a pootle to Punakaiki, coffee & carrot cake & came home again. Lots of twisties on this route, which is always fun & some spirited riding occurred on other parts during the course of the run as well, so all in all, a good ride.

We restarted our every Saturday ride group today. Yatala meet up headed over Mt Tamborine and through Beechmont to Hinze dam.
View cafe is excellent.
Back via Clagiraba, Maudsland and Oxenford then the freeway which was packed in both directions with cars idling on 110/kmh zones. Wasting that precious resource of fuel.
Summer conditions greeted us today, it hit 33c at midday.
A pleasant and well paced ride, we were expecting a police presence. None to be seen fortunately.

From home up to East Vic park for a coffee, then down to Miami Bakehouse for a pie via the byways.  Was a slowish ride, mainly suburban streets. 30deg and a beautiful day to be out.  Bike is running sweet again, spent most of the time in 6th gear when in 70 or 90kmh speed zones, still amazes me it doesn't fuss the bike much. My bmw hates tootling around in 6th, starts to buck and struggle.   Glad i took the 1400, the breeze was very welcome.

An average pie offset by a decent vanilla slice, a nice ride spoilt by traffic, all in all not a bad day to be out and about.

Need to investigate my clutch a bit more though...I have some ideas...
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

MickyJB

A pie & Vanilla slice for me yesterday at the Midway Farmstall West Pinjarra, another run for the Zephyr. Suzi is giving me the look 🥴🙄

Nowhere for me. I almost went out as it was going to be dry but it looked a touch suspect so I went to archery instead.
A good decision really as we had a 20 minute hailstorm mid afternoon.

KiwiCol

What's a 20 hailstorm?   20 minutes?   20mm hail?   :confused1:
