Welp.. I took my forks to Riders Choice in North Narra to Adam last week for some seals, he punched them out and got a new tyre on my front wheel.. so today I fitted up the front end, fitted new Hel Stainless lines front and rear and bled them natural style without a lick of help from the missus. All in all, a couple hours in the backyard in my jocks and a singlet well spent. Happy Sunday guys and gals!

Went to put a Quadlock mount on my DRZ.

Tried 3 different ones I have at hand, 2 spares and one off another bike. None seemed to fit how I'd like. Busa and 14 were pretty easy but on the DRZ the bars are braced, low to the top yoke and have random stuff in the way.

New store in the city has a selection of Quadlocks and mounts so I'll go take a look.

EDIT:  looking though the Quadlock accessories, they do a mirror stem mount. I might have a look if it'd fit on the bars slim cross brace that's a similar size.

Sounds like another excuse to swap to an uncluttered set of fat bars Tony!

Seems a good thread for a random question...

Anyone know the height of a 14 without mirrors? I'm hoping it's under 1100mm.

I've poked about online but can't see to find the figure anywhere I look.

Hooli

Being an idiot I hadn't looked in the workshop manual. It says 1140mm, which I think is close enough for squeezing one into a box trailer.

I shall explain in a few days...

Yeah Hooli, fit bar ends to your new obvious purchase. Hate stock antlers, just elbow views. Bar ends 👍IMO.

I won't use it very often but it works fine.
Found a new dirt road from Murphy's Creek to Helidon without going on the main sealed roads / Highway.

Made it easier finding the route from White Mountain up to the Gus Butel Lookout too.

Not a chance, I hate barend mirrors. Too far out my view to be any use & I've never ridden a bike with any I can see in. I've never had an issue with the standard ones personally, they look a bit crap but at least I can see in them.

That's the way, just get out and poke around to see what you can find.

Unfortunately now that I'm back in the swing of things with work I'm rolling into roughly 12 months of working away (central QLD). Good for the hip pocket, not so good for time on the bikes.

I tried bar end mirrors on one of the 14's, absolutely hated them.  Brought some extenders for the std setup & was perfect from then on.  The plot thickens . . .   The R3GT has bar ends as standard, and they're bloody awesome.  I've never had an issue seeing behind myself, get a real good field of view with both & they don't shake & vibrate at speed.  So, yeah . . .  guess it all comes down to what actually works on the particular bike.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

I've found the more expensive the barend mirror the better the view and vibration dampening.

I have S3 brand out of Melbourne on the GSX they're the best I've had to date.

I bought chinesium ones in the past and they were absolute rubbish.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Funny we all find different. My view from bar ends is great. All ive ever bought is chinese ones, $30 max. Prob bought 6 pairs, one faulty lens & one vibrated. New pairs sent, didnt want return, so have lots of spares.Only reason so many, i broke 2, chrome bits went rusty on a couple. Was strange the vibrating one, took me months to find the noise source.

I put extenders on my previous 14, but don't seem to have a problem on this one, maybe a previous owner did it already ??

My experience of bar end mirrors is limited to my "other bike" see pic but this has been invaluable when it comes to Silent electric cars creeping up on me. I bought it after a couple of close passes by the silent menace. Funnily enough bikes don't present any such problem.   :rofl2:

Does your significant other also let you keep your 14 in the house?
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.
