Get well soon Col, I really want to take the piss for falling off a mower but I can't bring myself to do it.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

First ride since June on the old girl. Took her through the city to watch a historic car rally (30c and warm, summer has started early) and then back through the hills. Fresh oil and filter change the day before, trying full synthetic for the first time. So far so good:)

You're not alone Col. First run on our new ride on some years ago I stuck it down a bank and through a 5 wire fence. I got rescued by some orchard workers who watched my faux pas.
Hope you're feeling a lot better by now.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Today just a coast return trip to pick up mower belt, turned out wrong. Lovely riding day around 29 degrees(85f). Those Tesla Y sure can move along.

Oi!

A HD would have been fine, the weight of the plough keeps them stable

Went to see my brother in law. 110K's / 68 mile round trip of mostly dirt and gravel. Up through the pine forest, gravel roads down the range, steeper gravel roads back up.

That's my riding week over. Will give the bike a quick wipe over and put it away until Monday.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

After weeks of rain almost every day, today was sunny...decided to ride to local cafe and back (just 30kms) for lunch, on a day off.

Returning home through the village, I noticed an SUV pointing out of a driveway...it had tinted side windows, so I couldn't see if anyone was in it. I assumed it did and it may pull out, so I slowed to 50km/h (limit is 70).

Bugger me, as I got close it pulled across my lane. I saw its wheels rotate, so I braked as hard as possible and stopped a few metres from the vehicle. Driver reversed back into driveway and I rolled forward to see better.

Driver with kid in front passenger seat, driver looked vacant/gormless. After I told her to use her eyes, I pootled home trying to get rid of the adrenaline.

I ride with headlight on, a white helmet and yellow hi viz, and I saw the SUV from 100m away...honestly, what more can we do?

Yeah, I did think that.

I'll go over the others I use, tyre psi, chain, oil, fuel etc next week and try and use them if the weathers OK. Mrs is home next week so she will mind Rufus the Demolition Dingo.

I nearly bought another cheap bike yesterday but talked myself out of it.  :whistling: Didn't really need a 650 Freewind !  Although.........

Scary moment for you Rob. I'm a wheel watcher too. Some drivers are just plain dumb.
Id forgotten about this little incident on my ride home from the Auckland Bike Show last Saturday. I'm on the expressway heading home, speed limit is 110kph. Most of the traffic in the outside lane is doing 120 plus. I'm following a car doing 120, drops to 100 then back up to 120 then back down again. I move left and now alongside said car. Tart sitting there texting with both hands on the phone and a knee doing the steering. I think she shit herself when I hit the horns and nutted off so everyone around us got that she was on her phone. I love my series  5 BMW horns.

Last evening I was having a drink with a friend who lost his brother a month ago on the Putty Road. He was hit head on by another motorcyclist, he was in the left lane with a passing lane on his right. So the bloke that hit him had crossed the centre line and the passing lane and then into the left lane.
So sad, sometimes it's just wrong time wrong place. We all place our trust in others to be alert, focused and competent,  it's incredible how many are not.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I agree Colin...sometimes it is just a simple as being there when someone does something stupid.

That random speeding up and slowing down, along with drifting left and right, is a giveaway that the driver is using their phone.

lurch

Only 25km and on the wife's noisy red one, but it's my first ride 204 days post accident. A couple of slightly nervous moments over some sharp bumps that tested the wrist and spinal hardware. I'm still walking though so it must have been ok.

I'm on leave this week and hoping to get out at least every second day.

Did you suffer much muscle degradation during your recovery ?  :confused1:

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

lurch

Sure did. I dropped to 102kg (8kg loss) during the initial recovery. I've been up at 4AM everyday since I started physio and hand therapy and am back where I started now though.

I received clearance for full work duties on Friday afternoon and will be switching towards normal fitness focused exercise starting tomorrow. I'm definitely not at 100% yet though so I'll be easing into it and aiming to drop a few kg initially.

I hope we catch up sometime.

I went down 15 mile Road and came back up White Mountain Rd, I think Coppermine Rd was closed.

I'd love to pick your brains about DR's and local routes.
