Quote from: Eric GSX1400K3 on Thursday, 10 July  2025, 09:47 AMSo I glued the magnet back together and glued it to the little base plate. The magnet went back together without splits or cracks. I figured no harm in giving that a go.  Refitted it and tried to start the engine, took a bit but it ran. Rough at first but got better as it warmed up. Interestinglythe STVA did not appear to activate. Throttle response seemed to be back to normal once engine was at temperature.

Idle was steady at around 1100rpm, so I thought all good.  Shut it down and tried a restart, back to rough running, coughing and clearly not running evenly on all four cylinders.  Also noted an irregular clunk that seems to be coming from the gearbox. The bike is on its paddock stand, so I put it in gear and let the clutch out, clunk less but still there.

My next step is to do a compression check  plus I will recheck all sensors again.  After that I intend to remove the cam cover and perhaps the head, checking for mechanical issues.

Running out of other ideas at this point.
I hope you get to the bottom of this Eric. I'd love to assist, but you're in deeper and murkier waters than those in which I can comfortably swim.
snorkel duly fitted.  I'm confident that I can sort it, just need to persevere.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Quote from: grog on Thursday, 10 July  2025, 11:50 AMSure is being a mongrel Eric. I cant see anything to gain removing cover or head. I know fuel stuff all new but maybe pressure&flow test to check? So strange no codes& ok one minute not the next.Almost sounds like a dodgy connection somewhere🤷
will do, and check external hp filter and tank teabag again. Still have the original efi pump, might drop that in and see what happens

Cold and windy outside.
More shed time.
Working on the RF900

Eric, external filter makes pressure & flow test very easy👍

I'm used to doing in tank ones.

The RF today was unclip two hoses, one electrical plug, two 10mm bolts and pump and filter were off the bike.  Took a few seconds.  So much easier.

Exactly correct Tony. Back when i was working, along came intanks for cars. Just made life difficult. Cost went thru the roof, some bloody difficult to do, wires, clips etc. Pumps not too bad but when they included filter, totally stupid, as is 14 set up.

Broke the rear brake caliper bracket ,loose pad pin and inner pad fell out and a loud bang and the bracket sheared on one side just above the retaining bolt.Anyone on hear have one ?
Is there a forum for spare parts, can't seem to see one .

Yep, called Classifieds: For Sale / Wanted.  Down the bottom of the main forum board  list.  I moved your post there too.

Suzuki parts fiche I use is www.mickhone.com.au

Rear caliper bracket part no is 69721-42F00, and they should be the same across all years.

Genuine about 103AUD, so about 50 quid I think?

I'm sure a bike breaker would have them

Sounds like youre lucky thats all you need, rear wheel lock up not good.

Got the RF900 running.

Wasn't great but it was without the fuel pump, airbox etc etc.
Ran it twice for a couple of minutes.
Lots still to do but it started on the button and ran on all 4 so in my book that's a win !

I've had some talk to me about buying it, but it can stay for now.

Efi pump check. Need to do pressure check but don't have the right gauge or fittings. Flow seems ok, pulled pump assembly apart again,  muck in the teabag again, backflushed the bypassed hp filter and cleaned out external hp filter. Flushed out pump. Will reassemble tonight

Moving trickle charger, checking, tyres, chain, oil, tidying toolbox's, charging 18v tool batteries, just pottering about. Have a ride planned for Friday if the weather is OK.

Reassembled efi pump, one of the electrical connections came away, so redid that one.  Back together in tank, primes well, charged the SSB lithium battery. Bike starts but still runs rough.  Re checked  all basic sensors, all pass their tests. Will do compression test, re-check coil packs and ht leafs, plus recheck signal generator magnet before i pull the camshaft cover

EFI pump flow check, first pass was first 3 seconds good flow, then really bad for the next 27seconds. I thought I was onto something, but then heard the pump cavitating and remembered the tank was nearly empty. Filled the tank and ran 2 more 30sec flow tests, each one giving me more than 1350ml of fuel, so I am assuming the fuel pump is good. Compression test is next.
