Rolling start in 6th gear, comparing the difference in roll on acceleration, fwiw, gentle difference at first but top power very noticeable. I might have also done another run from lower gears & worked my way up through the box (with the superb quickshifter) only to call it off well before the bike did. Man she can move when ya give it it's head.  Unofficially that is . . .

My personal test is 3rd gear at 80kmh and pull full throttle, obviously in a remote area and hang on until rev limiter cuts in. Most 1000cc + bikes enter the 200+ kmh range and I've experienced some strange antics in the handling department of some of the most exotic and expensive bikes on the market.
I'd like to try R3GT now but doubt anyone would let me test ride one here in Brisbane.

Quote from: Hooli on Friday, 20 December  2024, 08:45 PMAs it's my flexi friday so not working, I plan to try & find why my 14 is playing dead later today. First thing to do though is fit the bluetooth module to the car as I've had it since about October. It plugs into the CD changer & hi-jacks that connection when in use so the original headunit stays in place. The CD changer still works when not using bluetooth too.
Says it's a simple plug & play... we'll see but as it's US made there's more chance of that being true than if it was chinese junk.

I'll update you on both jobs later.

Update time...

The bluetooth thing went in & just worked, I was quite surprised at having no issues with it. Sound quality is excellent playing digital radio from my phone over it, which is what I got it for. So that was a success.

I've also got 14 running again & she's behaved for a small day out today so I'm calling it a success. I traced all the electrics through to see where the power went missing & confirmed it was only stuff switched by the ignition that cut out as the perm live to the clocks still worked. Despite having tried a spare ignition switch that still seemed the most likely issue so I stripped it down to have a look. The drain hole was blocked & the switch was full of water, that'd explain it then. I cleaned it all up, smeared it with electrical grease & rebuilt the bike. I'm sure the fuel pump & fan on the LED headlight both spin up a little quicker now, which isn't really a surprise considering.

I also solved the Scottoiler issue, the vacuum pipe had rubbed through just under the rear light where it plugs into the reservoir behind the number plate. Trimmed an inch off the pipe & reattached it & that's working again too.

That's three things that have worked, I must make sure the next three aren't anything important as they're probably due to go wrong.

Worth a look at TTS Super Busa & Rocket. Supercharged, a great watch. Double yours Col!!! Hard to imagine.

KiwiCol

Oddly enough, I saw today online a supercharged rocket with 340hp!   Yeah, not for me, too old for that, what I have is way more than I can do justice to, happy to play though.

Out of my wants or talents but amazing what they do.

Hooli

Not sure if we've got a thread for these, but it's just been sent me from private FB group down in West Sussex.

Looks written off by the tank damage though.

Mick_J

If the tank is stuffed it will be a cat n write off assuming there is nothing worse with the front end.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Took the forks off and changed the fork oil, one leg had less than 100 ml and the other 450ish, one fork also didn't have 11mm on the thread, nearer 16mm. Any one have a link to the correct fork dust covers, the ones I got are totally wrong

Prob need genuine Mate, around $80 pair in Oz. Pay the bucks, solve the problem, one of my mottos😂

Hooli

Probably cheaper on webike japan, but you'd need the part number to search on there. I don't know if they changed between the early & late forks so won't try & link owt.

Check the pricing on Tourmax. Same as OEM (i.e. "genuine") but usually much less.

Today needed petrol, far too hot for donning riding gear. Decided to fill 20 litre fuel can and fill at home. All ok until seal around filler leaked, all over me, all over tank😡😡 Wash n polish bike, wash me about 3 times but can still smell petrol. Never do that again, first &last time. far easier to ride to servo.Serves me right for being a sook😎

I put some daytime driving lights on the Blue. Had them sitting here a while so fitted them & wired up. Went to turn them on & thought they weren't going, bugger, what went wrong?  :confused1:  Started the bike & they're going ok, but are bloody useless.  They just not bright enough, they look like christmas lights not daytime driving lights.  :furious:

Waste of time this afternoon. I'll leave them on the bike, but they don't do anything for visibility or safety.  You can see them ok at night as in the pic, but daytime, yeah, reckon I'm still invisible.

I'll take another one in daylight tomorrow.
