Can we see a pic with the pilot onboard please ?
The bikes almost as big as the Merc.

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

I do like those Rockets too, I nearly had a look when I was looking for a cruiser but I can't do single sided swingarms that you can see (so my Sprint GT sneaked in as the can hid it). I've seen a few ridden properly & they bloody shift.

Mrs has got 1 somewhere but she's busy on her device at the mo.

The bike has a bigger engine than the Merc!  Merc is a 2.1L turbo diesel & the bike is 2.5L N/A petrol.

I'm sitting at work with the biggest grin on my face after riding to work on my beloved GSX1400. Most of my riding lately has been on the BMW R1200RT which is an impeccable motorcycle imho
However with 23 years of ownership you have an affinity with your vehicle. I'm reminded every time I throw a leg over and fire up 1.4 litres of an inline 4 torque monster 👹 with no bells and whistles that you're riding one of the best motorcycles ever made. 🙏🙏🙏

Kiwifruit

I hear you Chris, have owned ours for 10 years now. When she's clean it still turns heads and I'm proud to be it's owner. Every ride I enjoy be it wet or fine.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Exactly what you said Chris.12 yrs on and still a ripper.

Had one of my Busa's since 2005, my B-King since 2007.

I don't get sentimental about bikes, but I can't imagine not having them around.

Here's that pic Chris, I'm not riding, but beside it a Hawea Lookout, you Bobbie & Shane might have stopped at the same spot.

Just done some fuel calculations, bike covered 932k's on way home.  I've got from full to full again up to 757k's & it's used 40.72L of fuel to cover that distance. Works out to around 5.38L/100K,  thats about 53.5mpg for you imperial blokes.  The big girl doesn't drink as hearty as me Blue.    I'm quite amazed at those figures as all I'd read said it was 6.7L/100k & they're always 'very optimistic' figures, so just wonder if the tune has actually improved economy as well.

😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

GSXKING

Col you make it look like a small bike.
I've sat on one and it's not as big as the previous behemoths but still a big girl as you say.
I must say GT is the better option.

Hooli

Quote from: Hooli on Monday, 16 December  2024, 02:36 AMI took my 14 to Squires for no reason except to get out of the house. Noticed the Scottoiler wasn't working even when turned up so had a fiddle when I got home.

That went really well.... I think the delivery tube was blocked as it took a bit to blow down it & then it went easy. So I decided to fire the bike up & check. Absolutely dead, I get dash lights but no clocks, no fuel pump, no lights & no starting. Turn the key off again & the clocks sweep like they've had power attached.

I've checked all the connections in the headlight which seem ok. Plugged in my old ignition switch & get a headlight too but nothing else works. After fiddling for a bit the 7-pin relay by the fusebox stopped clicking & now nothing comes on at all but I still get the clock sweep when I turn the key off. All fuses are ok so my suspicion is the 7-pin relay controls the ignition circuits as well as the indicators & fuel pump. I can't try the original as I lent it out ages ago & it got lost.

I've ordered a new relay, that should be here Weds apparently (doubtful with shitsmus post) if that doesn't fix it then I'm lost & will have to do some proper thinking with the wiring diagrams.

Short version - bloody bikes!

Yeah, that didn't work. The relay has arrived & made no difference. Time to study some wiring diagrams.

Now we need some comparison pics. Col next to a Dax and/or Notty next to a Rocket :coffeescreen:

But Notty IS in there, you can almost see the top of his head above the tank, you can't see his feet cos he's standing on the left footpeg.  :stir:  :happy1:

Ho bloody Ho - ideal height seat for me 28 inches?  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Pommeroy

Having owned my GSX for only a couple of weeks, I've only managed a couple of short rides and a couple of 300km ones. As I've taken some leave before the festive madness, of course the weather has turned to custard and I've been reduced to largely staring fawningly at the bike in the shed. However, while sheltering in the shed from the latest deluge, I thought I'd check how the previous owner had the suspension set up. For your delectation, here's what I found.

Front preload - stock.
Front compression - 10 clicks from hard.
Front rebound - 1 click from hard.
Rear preload and rebound - stock.
Rear rebound - 3 on one side and 3.5 on the other.

I came to the GSX from an 02 R1, so on the longer rides I thought that the handling at times on some very twisty/hilly roads was perhaps a GSX quirk...seeing the suspension settings, perhaps not!

Suspension settings are a very personal thing, and I'm far from expert. To those of you with more knowledge, and with my tongue firmly in my cheek, what size/style of rider do you think the previous settings would suit?
There's always room in the world for a bit more tolerance and kindness.

KiwiCol

Can't really say TBH, but my suggestion would be to start from either stock or MCN settings & adjust from there to suit your riding style / comfort level.  Got mine set up like an easy chair, soft & as comfy as I can get.
