Ahoy!

I have a Datatool System 3 on my bike - always been there since I bought it in 2006. It's an '03

It has started alarming by itself once set - the bike remains untouched for about 5 mins then decides to alarm. I have to put it into service mode now once it is off - pointless having the alarm now and it drains the battery if not put on the maintainer.

Has anyone else experienced this with the system?

Sooner or later these always go wrong and cuase problems .
Best to remove it and buy a big lock and chain .
only a slightly modified gsx1400

I suspect the internal battery of the alarm unit has given up the ghost Stan especially given the age of the alarm. If this is the case, then I'm not sure if you are able to replace it or if it's a case of a new unit.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Agree Seth. We get this all the time at work on cars. They play up, original sellers/ techs are long gone. We just remove them as best option.

I used to be a Datatool (and meta) alarm fitter, when they start playing up it'll need a new circuit board, not worth it if you ask me, time to remove it.

I've got a data-tool veto evo on my Speed Triple, had it there for 20 years with no problems at all, I replaced the internal battery last month just because I thought it could do with a new one, straight forward job.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Thanks Guys - If the battery replacement is easy I'll give that a go before removing it.
Cheers!

You might need to buy a set of small torx screwdrivers.

I'd still think about getting rid though !!!!  when they go tits up out on a ride your not riding home    some of the early alarms where cutting out bikes when they passed power houses, seen this 3 times, one of our customers figured this out, if he pushed the bike a bit further the bike just fired up no problem. im sure datatool fixed this issue though.

I have the same system on mine, got fed up of it self arming and the alarm triggering as it was so sensitive, found this information on the internet quite easily - gave it a go and it seems to have done the trick some two years on and no issues

Thanks for that Will - I guess the question is - if bypassed, then there is no reason to have the unit on the bike. Not knowing much about these system connections to the bike, I am fearful that once I start removing stuff it will cause 'other' issues.

its easy to remove if you have fitted one, ive removed a few and fitted a lot more. you have to be a registered fitter though, you can't buy one over the counter. all the wires from the alarm are black but most of them can just be cut, but not all of them. you will need to reconnect some of the bikes harness wires. do you know who fitted it ?

That was the main reason I opted for the bypass rather than removing completely, although I am pretty confident I could remove without to much hassle, the bypass meant that I didn't need to start chopping and joining wires and took 15 minutes at most

Plenty of YouTube clips about how to disable and/or remove Datatool System 3.
