Quote from: grog on Tuesday, 13 June  2023, 06:51 PMMy answer, whatever works for me, should be same for everyone. I only have one bike these days, used to have multiples. Now one just fits my life, I miss not having a few, life changes. Im so lucky at my age to just have a good solid bike that my old body can still enjoy.

agreed. im the same with the age thing, ive got 2 bikes now but thinking of just one is enough.  :whatever:

I know that feeling, I sooo want to get a Z1000SX as a second bike but still struggling to justify it to myself for the miles I cover. It's daft really as I have worked bloody hard all of my life & now the kids have flown the nest should not have a second thought I suppose  :notworthy: still we are all different  :hat:

we are here for a shorth time so need to make the most of it while we can, if you want another bike and have the cash go for it   for me i get a lot of pleasure building bikes as well as riding them, but no longer ride in the wet (had enough of that) or in to much pain so into the shed and tinker  :cheesy:

We all decided what suits us.

I'm 60 soon and have increasing health problems. The bikes I ride and how I ride and where are on a limited time line now. Not being doom and gloom but I know I won't be playing with the same toys in a few years. I don't want to sit back in the future and think "I wish". I have no passion for smaller sensible bikes, I will enjoy the big stuff then quit.

The 1000SX is a great bike.  I really wish I'd bought one instead of the Supercharged H2 SX SE. If I had then I may still have a Kwak now. Apart from peak power the 1000SX is the bike I wish the H2 SX had been.

just do it, as my teenage kids say "Yolo, Dad".
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I have played with the idea of doing more on the parts / spares side.  I have the time and the space, and it's something that keeps me entertained and I'm interested in.  I am a regular at Swap Meets and Auto Jumbles.

I'd be happy to break and part out IL4/16v Suzuki's, there's certainly a market here for it. The thing stopping me is that prices here have rocketed. Bikes lay on pallets at the auction are silly money, bikes dragged from the undergrowth or a box of undesirable parts still have big price tags. I do pick up a few things but nowhere near enough to do it seriously. I can grab a bargain but don't really have to funds to go in deep and buy wrecked GSX14's, Busa's etc. it wasn't long ago tidy ride away GSX11's, Bandits etc were $2500, wrecks much cheaper, but those days have gone.

Brake pads turned up...

Added them to the growing "to-do" pile, still waiting for a heap of other stuff to turn up.

One of few that buy genuine parts Tony. Again, your bikes, your choice. Gen Suzi pads were bloody good, my originals were Tokico, guess everyone elses also. I tried to buy another set but couldnt find them. Never thought genuine, i tried Suzi shop but they sold DP, went with them, no regrets. Wonder what brand yours are?

I put a traditional headlight bulb back in my 14 yesterday to replace the LED I've had for ages.

Sunday I think it was, the bike had a moment when I started it while out & reset the clocks. Since then the brightness of the dipped beam has flicked from normal to rather weak & back at random. I suspect something to do with the LED failed & caused the blip. I'll fit another LED once I've ordered one, just stuck the normal bulb in so the light works till then.

It's the same LED that survived the crash the other year that smashed the headlight & bowl around it, so I was surprised it even worked after that.
