On the back of Greg's news yesterday.
I have recently undergone major surgeries to remove two large skin melanomas on my back and also undergo several lymph glands removal from both armpits.
Today was a momentous day,  :boogie:  :boogie:  the surgeon reported I am currently free of any signs of melanomas. However on going monitoring will ensure I live a long and happy life.
I am now forming an idea to raise money for melanoma research in an endeavour to increase the lives of people who suffer this.
Men are the worst at seeking out skin checks imho and I was pestered into having this most recent check by my new GP. He has literally saved my life. Now it's my turn to save others.  :frustrated:  :frustrated:

Thanks for sharing Chris, congrats on being melanoma free.  Gone are the days of zinc on your nose and a she'll be right attitude.  Our sun in Oz is brutal, even 20min is enough to get serious uv exposure risking skin cancer.

We get annual skin checks regardless, the wife just has an interim one as one particular spot on her shoulder was irritated and inflamed. Was nothing to worry about, but pays to get checked.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

That's great news Chris, now all you gotta do is keep out of the sun.

Great news Chris, and no doubt a big relief too. I do like your idea of research into skin conditions / melanoma as I think if more was done to highlight this condition and help identify it earlier can only be a good thing.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement
