Trawling the wreckers for anyone breaking a 14, am chasing a stator for an 05 (any diff between models? Ie plug?). Current one is an after market and not quite making enough. Will put off paying the $717 for a new one for the moment.

I see you're in convictshire so I can't suggest anywhere, but I've always had them rewound as it works out a lot cheaper.

As far as I'm aware they are the same for all years.

Endless, youre sure its stator prob? What volts output? Agree with Hooli, Gosford Rewinds not far from you, get great reviews for years.

Hooli

Oh, don't buy the cheap chineseium ones off ebay. I did out of interest & they don't supply enough amps so don't work.

Yes, can't recall the numbers, but not far out of spec but far enough. I've been getting away with the cheap stator working no probs for years, but now a new fuel pump is drawing a bit more than OEM (larger fuse now in place). A satisfactory, but temporary solution has been to put in an LED headlight until a replacement stator is found.

Cheers Hooli, great to know. I was wondering about rewinding, but I think part of the issue might be the magnets have some damage to them. This is a worry, as there was no evidence as to what caused this.

Hooli

Wouldn't hurt to ask a rewinder if it'll matter or not, they can only say no we can't fix that.

Yes, true, will make a phone call. So turns out the rotor has some slight damage to the magnets that is suspected to be contributing to lower output. $800 part, so am now also hunting for one of these too if anyone spots a bike being parted out. Far as I can tell import tax isn't a thing under $1k so UK parts OK too

Spoke to him yesterday, he has more bits for a 1400 than most other breakers.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Agree Barbastro suggestion might be the go. Around $250 landed, UK quality they say. UK electrics have never had a good reputation in Oz but mustve improved.A newie against a 20 odd year old unit that couldve already been replaced with chinesium, just a thought. 🤷
