Bikes been garaged for some time.. As i have.. :cry2:  Anyway. its lost the clutch fluid a while ago, god knows how, its been on front and rear stands and ive not noticed any leaks. So time comes to replace clutch cable with a stainless item and along with a slave cylinder repair kit. Got the new cable routed  then decided to take the slave off, what a bloody nightmare, got it off in the end with the help of an impact driver. The inner 2 JIS screws were well tight. Shit load of build up at the back of the slave cylinder but no evidence of a major leak. The piston is seized solid in the cylinder body. ..now trying to get it free. Any ideas.. Ive plugged in the old clutch cable back up to the reservoir and connected up to the slave cylinder to see if i can force it out with fluid but cant get any pressure behind the piston.. Now sat typing this whilst looking at a can of cold Cider with my name on it.  :coffeescreen:

Maybe time for a new one, genuine suzuki £160.
I rebuilt mine a while ago, its OK but I'm going to try the oberon one

Never heard of the clutch slave seizing before, but then again never heard of all the fluid disappearing either.  Since the fluid has gone & air / moisture has got in & rusted / corroded up behind the piston.  You may be able to get the old piston out but I doubt it'd be able to work properly & not leak.
I'm thinking the slave is toast & it's just not worth the hassle of trying to fix an old corroded part that may not even be any good if you do manage to get it apart, get a replacement one and have the peace of mind it's a good 'un again.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Looked at Oberon... they look tasty. :smitten:

Pretty sure the Bandit 1200-1250 and the 1300 Hayabusa run the same slave cylinder. Should be easy to get a decent used one, and if not a 'Busa unit, you can also fit the 'Bush slave cylinder seal to stop it filling with crud again.

Oberon is nice, but a lot of money for not a lot of difference in clutch feel.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Screw a grease nipple in, grease will push it out. Clean it all up then decide.Busa kits or new cylinders from USA best prices by far.

Oberon ones are brilliant upgraded replacements better quality too
Or rebuild the standard one and fit the extra aftermarket hyabusa seal kit to reduce any future problems
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Couple of years back my clutch was slipping due to slave cylinder, I replaced with new didn't bother with a kit, been there with cars before.

I rebuilt mine it's been OK, but some days it's not a clean shift, could be me being a spaz on shifts yet clutchless shifts are so crisp a clean so I know the box is fine. Oberon will be fitted soon.

Managed to unseize the damn thing. Just plugged the old cable back up and fired a load of new fluid through even though it had lost all fluid from a leak :whatever: anyways got a seal kit and sorted it all out. loads of pressure at the lever now and had it started for the 1st time in.er err a long time..
Front brakes next then a new battery, MOT Insurance and Boom.. :boogie:

Hayabusa slave repair kit comes  with that part, I repaired mine using same kit, better protection for push rod

Shineysideup

Where does said extra part go?

grog

Pushes into cylinder, rod goes thru it. Extra protection from crap getting into cylinder. Worth getting i reckon.Other thing, pushrod needs tlc, very good clean and oil/ grease mixture where it goes inside. That seal needs extra loving care or would become a mongrel. 😎
