Seems road where i live has been discovered. For 32 yrs, out of my shed, up the hill, a 60/70k loop of brilliant bike roads. Nowadays, sometimes 200 bikes go past home. Ive searched but cant find a link, must be posted somewhere. I quite enjoy it, bloody noisy but thats ok.Hardlys& Indians dont seem to be amongst them much. They wait down at the pub😂

Any hints for those not in the know?

I run across from Toowoomba to my mum's place at Kawana semi regularly and will be using the 1400 as often as possible. Once it's back together of course...

That's a great little loop, we usually incorporate some of that in our northern trips, especially Montville plus the Hunchy Road 👍

The Crows Nest to Blackbutt Rd was a bit like that.

For ages there was a gravel section in the middle the logging trucks used that regularly had deep ruts and powdered dust. Most folk did it once and never came back, even though the bitumen both sides was excellent fun.

Now it's sealed bitumen the whole way, 63K end to end, just about no straights, couple of rough bits but not a drama even for Sportsbikes.

Now it real popular, lots of groups using it. I'm waiting for the cops to realise how "enthusiastically" it's being used !

The new section is great, I've been known to do a sighting lap first then double back for some "giddy up".

Not really a secret now, but I do have a couple of other spots.

I guess you're very familiar with Bellthorpe Range Road ?,
.

grog

Yeah Tony, about a a 40 k run. Seem to remember bad road conditions last time, not sure why🤷

GSXKING

Thanks for the tip on that road Tony. I've been avoiding it ever since I had the dirt experience you mentioned.
It makes for a cleaner run to Bunya Mountains 👍

I'm told the road in to the Bunya Mountains heading from the Cooyar Range / Maidenwell was going to be all bitumen and not have a gravel section too, but I haven't had a look yet.

I love it going up, not so much the other way though.

Similar to most great twisties.Up is always better, down is hard on arms.  My favourite is Rex, up from Mossman to Julatten. 100 plus corners in 10 ks.Quite an experience.Rocket 3 with titanium scrape bolts, what a night time view, huge silver spark trails. 👍Dont think i even scraped Diavel, i was trying.

Going downhill requires a bit more leg pressure squeezing the tank and core strength to hold body position. Triceps also get a workout as does grip strength. Ever seen the corkscrew at Laguna Seca ?

No secret however this was once one of my favourite rides that I started riding in my early twenties. I couldn't count how many times I've ridden over and back over 40 years.
It's quite a technical piece of road to navigate safely at pace.
Those of you familiar with it can testify to that. Definitely not a good spot for learning to ride.
I've ridden it in glorious sunshine and every type of weather to almost blizzard conditions, fullmoon rides were interesting, I once collected an owl fortunately he was uninjured and flew away. Aaahh the memories 😎

I've had a few tickets from over zealous traffic cops/Nazis in that time.
I rarely ride there anymore due to an abundance of eager riders willing to meet their maker ☠️.
Wrong side of the road, over cooking corners and hitting obstacles. Just a few of the instances I've witnessed personally.

Greg/Grogs observation started my thoughts 💭 😎

Long time ago went to Mt Glorious, was in cafe car park down a long driveway.I was on Ducati and Mate on my old GSX1100.Finished our drinks and back to bikes. Started Suzuki, all ok. Started Ducati and bloody cattledog came ripping at my pants, turn off, he sat down. Scary stuff. Tried again, same result. Obv someone on similar bike had kicked/hurt him. End result, had to push it up drive to main road, away from dog. Wrecked my jeans. Dont think ive ever been back there.

Done this one a few times.
