Doess your first gear sound like dry bearings too?

Hi FOlks,
So this is goning to be asked like a noob as I am one but is it usual for the 1st gear to sound very "dry" ? The rest of the gears sound fine but first has a definite dry bearing whirl noise (sorry, thats my best description  )

Oh, I also have a Healtech DS-series G2 gear indicator. Is there something failing or broken that 2nd gear is displayed when in first or neutral a lot of the time?

1st gear whine is normal. Reset for gear indicator is on Healtech website👍

Yes. 1st gear is straight cut for strength so it whines.

Gear indicator? get someone from Norfolk to teach you to count to six with the fingers on one hand.

Ear plugs n I can't hear it. I'm a gear indicator man myself. After 4 years even though I do count the gears a lot I still love the indicator.
My newly acquired ZX14's 1st gear is noisy as well. It has a gear indicator but if the sun is not shining on it you can't read it and so you find you count a lot more so I spose by having one you do get lazy. I still like em tho.

Ah, so first gear is fine thats good to know. As for the indicator it came with the bike and somebody said something about my gear position sensor might be on its way out?? is that a thing?

Yes it is. The ECU knows what gear the bike is in as it reduces the power slightly below 5th by retarding the ignition. it's mostly to reduce how easy they'd wheelie other wise. Hence TREs & custom igniton wotsits (trigger plates) are an oft discussed mod.

Thanks Grog I will reset it but I believe that wont do so much as it is the GIPRO DS Series G2 and not the GIPRO ATRE G2. So you cant make it learn things like the ATRE G2. As I say I will reset it and see

I don' think gear position indicators use the gear position sensor. As far as I know they all work from revs & road speed to calculate it themselves. Makes them more generic so they can be sold for lots of bikes.

Not sure Hooli but i think my Healtech uses info from ECU,whatever, its always spot on. I know big deal have or have not, just saves me looking for gear 7.

I keep looking for 1 Andre, but thats at golf. Its hard to believe, my 2nd new GT750 had gear indicator, thats now 50 yrs ago. It also worked perfectly. Guess it didnt work off ECU. Great bike.
