Ok I have a 2017 plate Hyundai i40
Question is.y screen in center of the dash that controls radio sat nav reverse camera and other stuff is now on the blink.

Any thought if it's possible to change one from another vehicle without any problem or would I need to get it coded
Won't be buying new as Hyundai want about £4000 for one, yikes.
Curious if anyone knows anything about this sort of crap, as I know you're a livley bunch of here

This is what it's now showing
Cheers

On my VW golf 6 i had to replace the satnav / radio / hmi screen because of the same reason.

Bought a secondhand one (from the same series) and had a bloke "unlock" it and get it to work with my specific car.

The screen had the specific code to unlock but additionally needed to be some kind of " dealer approval" in your car.

Its an anti theft thingy. The mobile service was about €100 with all new roadmaps, soft- and firmware updated.

This was done as a side business from an VW mechanic with his work laptop  :whistling:

I can only assume it works the same with Hyundai.

I can't help personally, but a google search(s) and / or U-Tube search would probably yield results on how to replace.

Getting the part out of the dash is pretty straightforward.

Stepdoug. I was interested so rang about it today. Hyundai parts Mate said they often stuff up, they get them repaired but no wrty, about $1000 Aus. Another Mate, fits car accessories, radios etc. Buy an aftermarket type, Pioneer, JVC etc. His advice was, get a pro to fit it, can be a nightmare to make work properly. Neither are positive outcome.

Maybe try these guys in Waltham Abbey @Stepdoug , to see if they can repair yours? They list instrument clusters and centre displays such as yours, and Hyundai is listed in their scope of manufacturers

Well.
Need to win the lottery to buy a new one,
Spoke to my local dealership today and a new one is only £8,000
Yes you did read that correctly
Or a reconditioned one for a mere
£2,500 ISH.
Nope not doing that

At that rate, it's better to pull the old one out, send it to Grog and get it repaired. The postage should not be more than 200 Aussie return. Then for 1200 Aussie (630-640 pounds) you'd have it fixed, that is of course if it can be fixed...
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I dont understand why you cant go to car stereo shop and get after market fitted. Alpine, JVC etc all list head units /screens for I40.
