I've just bought a timing advancer for the 1400 and wondered what your thoughts are?
what are the advantages or disadvantages.
I will be fitting it this weekend if I get the chance as I need to sort out the GS750 as the frame is at the powder coaters, the engine is still in bits all over the garage. The wheels are now back on the 14 and look really nice and WHITE as they can be after the mishap with the blue thread lock.

Disadvantages - none that I know of (except perhaps don't fit an ignition advancer AND a TRE), advantages - it makes acceleration a little tauter across all 6 gears (whereas a TRE only does it across the first 4).

Some say they can't fee a difference, however when I had my 14's it most certainly made accelerating a little more fun
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

You can also slot the ignition back plate to achieve the same result .
Approx 1mm=1°
Some say 3° is the optimum amount if advance .
I have a 4°advancer and it does change the bike making it a bit smoother and more responsive.
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Seth, I was up in your neck of the woods on Thursday collecting wheat from a farm on my way back down from aberdeen,My wheels don't look very white in the photo but they are. Is this the same as your advancer from fleebay?. I was going to add pics but the bot keeps saying the files are to large?.

This is the timing advancer I got from ebay, it's a bit rough around the edges but I can sort that out before I fit it.
