Slight woopsy with tank

Had a slight woopsy with my tank, long story short, fitted a new tank protector, found that that old one had been clearcoated around it. Got the trusty da polisher out to smooth out the clear coat line and have gone through the paint....Bollocks.
Anyway my paint guy will sort the tank, as tank would be off for a bit I thought I would look into the pairs removal. Below 2000 revs in traffic 3rd gear it's always been a bit fluffy, is this the pairs system or am I asking too much of the engine. PS has aftermarket system, Blackwidow diwnpioes through to Delkavic mufflers

I'd say it depends on how much below 2000 revs you're talking about.  Remember idle is 1100rpm & if you're doing 1500 in 3rd, yeah I can see it might be a bit lumpy, just change down another gear?   :whatever:

Rip the pairs out whilst the tank is off, just remember to blank off all the now open orifices.

Probably around 1800 rpm, always seems a slow down hill section in traffic, so keeping an eye on the cars and just fail to to notice the revs getting a little low.
I was looking at the blanking plate kits

You can just plug the original cap, either by tapping a thread into it & putting a bolt in it or leave a bit of rubber hose on them & block the hose.  Both these cost nowt. :onya:

A new thing for me is setting the tps and stps
It can make a massive difference to how the bike runs on and off throttle especially low down.
Adjusted 3 bikes so far and they've all improved
only a slightly modified gsx1400
oh and a standard one too

Cheers chaps, I'll have more of an idea when the tanks off, everything is easier when you see it in the flesh, will have to look into tps adjustment, sounds a bit like Harry Potter magic   ???

Eric GSX1400K3

Setting TPS and STPS is easy, no trickery or magic involved. Lots of resources on here, we'll look after you.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I doubt that's anything to do with the PAIRs. The only difference I noticed was slightly smoother on & off the throttle at high revs after removal.

Having said that, I can get right down to idle in 6th & pull away smoothly again so yours isn't running as well as it could. My list would be

Balance the throttles
Set TPS & SPS

Always balance the throttles first or it'll throw the TPS reading out, as effectively the TPS reads No1 Throttle Body to determine where No3 Throttle Body (because that's where the cables attach) is.

Oh & check your vacuum pipes to the MAP sensor & Pairs valve if still fitted. They can have tiny splits in as they get old & only affect low speed running.

Cheers chaps, quite interested to see what the frame looks like under the tank

Tank off today to get ready for slight repaint.
Had a chance to get a look at 21 years worth of grime, frame paint looks ok and not too much rust

Would you also be considering a new air filter element whilst you're there?   I'd assume you'll be cleaning the gunk off with some engine degreaser & a pressure wash (here we go . . .)  or if no pressure wash, hot soapy water?

Soapy water has already been done and cleaned up. The airfilter should have been changed when I got the bike, however from what I could see it didn't look that clean but it will get changed when I do the oil and filter come winter.
And just add 99 ron tastes not better than 4 star  :boogie2:
