Thought ill start a new thread rather than carry on in newbie section.
Im Sam 62 years young. Been riding since 16 and have had all sorts of bikes from fsie to vmax to vstrom but my favourite has to be the bandit 1200 including my last one of 4 years. In 2021 i had a a heart attack and had major open heart surgery with a new carbon valve fitted. Drs told me not to ride again but no way was i going to do that, bikes are my life so to help me back to fitness i thought i would add carbon on my bandit to match my heart valve and started up an instagram page to let my friends and family see my progress so called myself @carbonsam
Now nearly 2 yrs on i thought time for a change dont need two bikes i need one that combines the bandit and vstrom and the gsx came along. What a mistake that was getting rid of a pefect bike for this.so carrying on from my newbie post  got done over by a shop and theres no chance of getting my bikes back unless i pay them £1400 for restocking and delivery.
Been to cab i hard every right to cancel

I  have no fight in me and the shop knew i would give up . You can never win against these people . I suppose i can report them to mot for worn loose chain and loud exhaust as they passed it or as cab said i refuse tand demand full refund but have to do so in writing. Both ways could take months and i will be without a bike and i cant afford to buy another one so i give up count my loses and will just soldier on.
Need new exhaust system chain and sprovket and hopefully just a good service. Tank is dented so will have that resprayed
Tank looks clean  and cant see any oil leaks . The clowns are sending me service kit and chain and sprockets. He even offered me some old end cans but my mate said i can have his from his old gsx.gonna spend 350 on fleecebay for downpipes and mainstand

Cant add anymore pics as says they are too large and cba now there will be a few go up on instagram when i get round to it . Furst pic ix the ad 2nd is when i got it home and theres few more to show but thatll do for now
Thats why i always ride alone

I would take your case to the national conciliation.  I just did it with my Ducati and finally got the compensation I wanted.  Everything has to be in writing and it does take time but I wouldn't let the bastards off the hook.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

How on earth didn't you expect exhausts that look like that to be loud?

The only thing the MOT says is if the tester thinks it's 'excessively loud', the tester I used for years rode Ducatis so I could have turned up with open pipes & got a pass.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-motorcycles/8-exhaust-noise

Chain & sprockets wise, that's another open to opinion as it just says excessively worn.

That tank is a mess though, wasn't it shown in pics before you got the bike? Or didn't you see it on collection/delivery?

There should be an option in your picture program on your pc that allows resizing of the pics, which you can save in another folder for adding to the thread.

The only thing I can say is that if the dealer hid the damage then they are at fault.
However, I look at their bikes a lot as they are local to me in Malvern ( I stress here that I have no affiliation ) and they do post a lot of pics at all angles. I remember looking at your bike a while ago, unfortunately I cannot remember if any damage was apparent. Did you take the option they offer of a cheaper price for a "trade" sale, i.e. no 52 point check, no warranty, etc ?

I am sure that you will sort this bike out, at least you have the new chain, sprockets, and service kit coming. Just stick the end cans on from your mate, unless the down pipes are totally knackered.
The only expense then is the tank.

I know how you feel B.T.W., cos I just bought mine a couple of months ago, and had to get the tank off for extensive rust removal and pump cleaning.

Good luck and all the best with it.

D.D.yes bought the cheaper price option but that only applies if you're a trader according to cab.
Those buggers know all the tricks  so I'm stuck on that one mate.
I just put my mates original cans on it and sounds lovely however the idle is gone just belie 1k rpm and there's a whistling sound under the tank. What could that be?

it's a failure for loud pipes now and chain had failed on first  MOT then they done it again and it passed yet they tightened it but now super slack again. None of the damage was shown in the ads and by time driver got here it was late and pissing down with rain I was knackered and that's how they get old people like me. I m stuck with it now

One could speculate here, that the damage was possibly done by the courier ??

I think the idle is right at about 1100 +/- 100 RPM warm engine. Cold 1600 +/- 100 RPM

To adjust the idle is quite simple.

See below.

Looks like you beat me to it, Kettle on, nice cup of tea and back out there.

Under or in the tank? you'll normally hear the fuel pump running unless you've got earplugs in or are a bit deaf.

Could also be an air leak to the PAIRs/vacuum system, although personally when I've had that I've not been able to hear it at all.

cheers dwaine its the screw end of the fast idle screw has come out of the engine end and ive no idea where it goes

Hooli

When you say fast idle screw, do you mean the fast idle screw you get to under the tank & is vertical by the throttle cables? cause that should never be adjusted, according to the manual it's factory set.

If you mean the normal idle adjuster that sticks out to the side, it goes approximately under the centre of the throttle bodies. You can see the brass coloured end of mine when it snapped a few years ago here. This view would be from the back of the bike & below the TBs.

Indeed it's a buggery bugger to get right again if you do. I had to strip mine apart when it'd seized up with dirt over the years & being a fool I didn't measure the setting first. It's a lot of trial & error to sort, but it's almost right again.
