Irish Road Races Cancelled

Just been reading that Irish road races have been cancelled for 2023 due to massively increased public liability insurance costs.
Well that's a shame as we have flights booked to Belfast to watch the NW200.

Indeed, I think there is a very faint hope that the NW200 might run, but it is very faint, so highly unlikely.

It seems to me if they really wanted to stop wars, they would force armies to pay public liability insurance.

We'll be at Isle of Man around 8th May hopefully we can rent a bike & ride the track at legal limit 😈😈😈

You would think the government there could help out as surely the revenue lost would be considerable. I have a pocket with a few coins in to squander there.
Typical of insurance companies though. Like the Banks...... a year without a record profit on the balance sheet is akin to a financial disaster.

Bad news indeed. Racing meetings North & South will be affected as the MCUI (Motorcycle Union of Ireland) negotiate the insurance cover for all of our meetings. A decision on the southern races will be made next week.

I'm hoping that we will see the NW200 at least run. Its the flagship event here and its loss during Covid was recognised as having a major impact on tourism revenues locally. Fingers crossed.
