House is surprisingly comfortable.

We built on a hill and catch a fairly constant breeze,  and built a brick house with insulation behind the bricks, in the ceilings, and under the roof sheets.

Mrs hates the heat but although we have aircon through the house she hasn't even put it on today.

The place we rented nearby was a little timber cottage with no insulation at all. Could get it warm in winter, it was an oven in summer.

I do like old buildings, but they aren't always so great to be comfortable in.

1st day of summer was one of the coldest on record, people were jumpers and long pants
5 days on and its farken hot, been using the air-conditioning all day in my truck. I'm also in Queensland but by the water at Hervey Bay.

I agree Steve,

What's caught a few folk out isn't the temps, they aren't unusual for AU, it's the sudden change. A few days ago I was working in a fleece top or wearing an extra layer under my work shirt.    In just a few days the average temp in my shed went from 20 C, to 10 C, to over 30 C.

Swap you! Highest temp in the U.K. in the last couple of days has been 8C!

Yup, was on site recently (80km West of MB, blazing hot during the day, at night the Rocks and dirt reflect it all back,  then the red dirt and flies.....
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Straya has always bred an abundance of pesky flies Eric.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Today promised huge heat and huge storms. Neither happened so all good. 3 Storms but no damage, temp barely made 30. Now a lovely 24 degrees.

Storm here last night, another real loud one at 4am. Huge lightning show and briefly some heavy rain.  Only 22mm in the rain gauge but it soaked my new turf and now the house and both sheds all feed into tanks.

Hot day. I was shifting top soil and in the sun with the mornings rain it was very humid.

-6C degrees this morning - so glad retired   :smile2:  no more climbing Telephone poles - back in the day there were no heaters in the vans ( well actually there were but they were either stuck on cold or hot )  :bugga:
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off
