Would be great to have a step by step guide as to what to do, in what order, and with what recommended products.
Including any special tips/tricks unique to our bikes?

I cleaned mine today, sort of, but not 100% happy.

I used Mequires stuff - detergent and wheel cleaner etc.

I only have some crappy SCA brand cut compound and no polish etc - so some guidance on products an usage there would be very handy !
(tank needs some love that way)

Also even after two applications of non-acid wheel cleaning stuff, a brush, some detergent, and a hose off there is still some persistent dirt/grease on the wheels and in the nooks/crannies around the calipers that I missed. Toothbrush doesn't seem to get in everywhere.. or is it just a matter of persistence on my part?

And I didn't even consider doing anything with the pipes etc to brighten them up this time....

So, yeah, a step by step guide would be awesome.  :)

You know, now that you are retired with all that time on your hands.... :P

Make sure you use a good quality fine cutting compound, some are very aggressive and could dull the paint.
Always keep your rags clean, never put them down anywhere likely to pick up any dirt . I like mutton cloth for applying polish and a microfibre cloth for buffing it off.
With a black tank, once cut and polished you should see in direct sunlight blue pearl flecks in it.
I use fine cutting compound on my headers too. I cut mutton cloth and wrap it round  the pipes so when you pull it back and forth it cleans right around the pipe.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

my clean, not being a guru, just what i do. degrease all parts that look like they need it. under fr. sprocket etc. hose off. truck wash for a clean all over. wipe off with oates chamois, best you can get. any alloy ive polished that is dull and exhaust get the solvol autosol treatment. great product in my eyes. i never touch the seat, too slippery iff product applied. polish and wax time. i use several, valvoline nano, turtle wax but lately discovered bowdens fully slick. amazing stuff. wheel rims is mr sheen or fully slick. all polish etc is applied with flannelette, old bed sheets. wipe off with micro fibre. very cheap to buy but make sure you wash them. i just chuck in laundry and go in with wifes wash. glass cleaner on mirrors and gauges. cant think of brand i use but superb. brake calipers, rotors were in first step, degreaser or brake clean, both work. last thing is always spray forks where they slide into seals. wd40, rp7, inox or oily rag. told to me by my suspension bloke, truck wash takes all the lube off. seals need some lube. whole job is 40 mins in my lunch hour. always get comments on my clean bike. not bragging but just how i am. annoys me being dirty, bike that is.
