Hi Mr Barmy
The Triumph is a very nice bike.
Well built etc.
I had taken the screen and the hand guards off due to the warm weather, to try to make it more naked. I started thinking why not just have a naked bike!!!
I have been seeing a fair few 1400's around lately and so I started getting that familiar itch.
You shouldn't take for granted the simplicity to service the 1400.
My Triumph is a nightmare to replace plugs and air filter on.
Tank removal as well as the Tupperware.  But on the Triumph the fuel has to be drained due to balance pipes.
I was quoted £870 for the Valve service which is every 20k!!!
There's a lot that's good about the 1200 triple. Gorgeous engine but not very DIY friendly!
I started looking at the simplicity of the GSX and ease of maintenance.
Plus that engine!!!!!
Valve shim friendly in that they rarely need adjustment.
I can't wait to show the photos.
But I don't want to jinx anything so will wait till it's actually mine !

Oh yes, I had one from new for 3 years if you remember, and they were a nightmare to work on. Triumph make nice bikes but don't think about servicing in the design. My BMW GS1250 is so much easier to work on, easier than the GSX1400 in many respects.

The main issue with the Explorer was the engine heat that blew back and the top end heaviness. That aside, a nice bike
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

So does that mean in thr space of two posts, you are a) back in the fold as it were and b) potentially  the owner of possibly 2 08 GSX1400s....?

So welcome back again, again, again, again and again.....

PS: it's forum etiquette to introduce yourself.....

Maybe I should change my name to "Bad Penny" as I keep returning!
The other thing I resally Liked with the GSX was the huge under seat storage!
I dont think there is another bike thats in this class.

Seriously, I am pretty pleased to be back on here.

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

I think username change is a bit much.  I resisted the :admin: temptation to do that, but:

...and then the Winged Hussars arrived.
