I had one of those as my first road bike. They're well put together and virtually indestructible, but revving them to redline from a standing start and hitting 3rd gear (or maybe 4th, can't recall) before you make it across an intersection gets old.

At 6'4" (and probably 95kg back then) I was once told I look like a monkey fucking a football when riding it  :happy1:

Mrs is at work for a few days so I'm having a couple of quiet days at home, just me and the dog. Locked the bikes up and just spending an hour or two tidying up the yard then going in the aircon for a cold drink, then repeat. Mowed a few bits the ride on didn't fit, walked the dog, fed the birds, very relaxing. Might take a bike out Friday.

I have a Skid Steer, excavator, concrete blocks and crusher dust all booked for January so I'm reluctant to plant too much before the place gets torn up, putting 3 retaining walls in.

Garden was a cattle paddock until fairly recently so no large plants, I'm getting a few things start to grow so hopefully it'll look better with time. Put 400+ trees and shrubs in and have been adding to it every week.

I know some folk find mowing and gardening a chore, but I find it very therapeutic. Sure, it never ends and it can be a lot of work, but it can be very rewarding. It's a good escape mentally and keeps me active and out of the house.

Today a bike shops ride. Kawa 900 RSE, i like.Looks good, needs tail tidy. Salesman tells me low speed throttle control is jerky. WTF, another 1g will sort it, re flash. Why not sorted, yeah i know needs to comply. Home on 14, it complys to me👍

Today looked further. Lots of Kawa RS & RSE for sale used. Lots of dollars reduced from new even with very low ks.Why?? Seems strange to me. Pic is older one but some just a year old, lots off price

The Z900rs looks the billy bollox but when you ride it there is no character, might as well be riding a Honda (for less money).  That's why they are not keepers, they're boring.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Mick, i was sort of wondering that, what you said, boring. So many for sale, had to be a reason.

If you don't want a boring motorcycle, buy a BMW, Ducati or MV Augusta or Guzzi for that matter.

You've had the Diavel, I reckon another European bike may suit you Grog

They are also, mega uncomfortable. Like riding a plank, over a ploughed field.

Personally I don't like the rear look, sits to high and that mono shock .. If they had kept the design closer to the early Z900 it would have been more sellable / keeper

My son almost has the Zephyr 750 finished .. I will be the caretaker of it as he has not enough shed space with all his other bikes.

The Zephyr 750's I had weren't my ideal bike, stock suspension isn't great and the just felt a bit tame and lacking for a 750, but that's not their forte.

I couldn't fault the looks, by far the best of the Zephyrs and a brilliant take on the Old Skool bikes, not surprisingly as they were closer to a Z650 than they were to any modern bikes.

I often look at the more recent retro's, Z900's, Kats, GSX8, MT's etc but they all look a bit "off" the mark. The bikes that looked right like the GSX14 and ZR750 wouldn't have a hope of getting into production now. The new stuff isn't retro, it's just another new bike with a bit of plastic as a tribute to a once great past.

I do love new bikes, but I accept the ones I've owned or ridden really aren't the bikes the manufacturer wanted to sell. You just have to see them as a bike that needs to be how it is to meet ADR so you can burn more more unlocking and sorting it.  Different times.

I am thinking about getting another bike, I did look at the z900rs and selling the gsx, but apart from being new the 900 is not really any better, worse in many areas. And if I do get a z1000sx (still keeping the gsx), and was to pull up at a biker cafe nobody's going to pay any attention to it, as said elsewhere jab, just another bike. And modern bike seats are bloody hard
Thankfully we all like different things, and I like a modded GSX1400
