My RT BMW has a fob & push button activation 👍

Funny you should mention that Chris. Key in 14, start n warm, key off n out on arrival👍When i had Diavel, little fob that just went in pocket. Pull up on arrival, forget about fob. Nearly lost it so many times, really hated that idea. Expensive to replace. One of the main reasons i was glad that bike was gone. Stupid idea.

Aye the keyless lark on my HD is one thing I like about it, I'm forever getting my gloves on before putting the key in the 14.

Not sure i understand, gloves on is last thing before ride, same all my life. So you kit up, bike hasnt been started to warm up?

Nope, I never leave my bike to idle. I just ride it.

Worst time for engine wear is a cold engine & low oil flow, exactly what you get idling a cold engine.

Same here, never let it just sit and idle, just take it easy for the first few miles until the oils warmed up.

Didn't you have to warm up the oil in the Ducati b4 riding or risk blowing the motor?  Probably where you picked up that habit Grog.

My K1600 has Keyless ignition, the key stays in my pocket the whole time.

My start procedure,  14 goes thru its fast idle sequence, im ready by then, just a few easy ks, away we go. Steve Porter, not sure if i was correct in Ducati start up, 5litres of 50 wt to get warm. Start up, used a wooden clothes peg beside throttle to set at 2000 revs, put my gear on, then an easy 10ks before any hard throttle. Hooli, totally correct, cold start is major engine wear time, idling not good. Build a new motor, never let it idle from initial start up, always a few revs.

Yep, probably 15-20% of the time I'm all gloved up and suddenly realise the key is in a zipped trouser pocket so you post is quite reassuring, I thought I was the only incompetent.

My GTR has keyless ignition which is OK except for those few instances when I have found that I had left the bike parked up with the key and fob sticking out of the panniers or top case - bloody lucky that no one rode away with it - you just assume that the fob is in your pocket and forget that you had been messing with the luggage

The 1400 engine is modern enough that it doesn't need to 'warm up before riding' .

On the other hand a few minutes of idling isn't a problem either.
