Hooli

Is there no option within the forum software to resize the uploads? The site I run uses phpbb and does that.

It doesn't always work but the option is there...

Hooli, Yeah there is but if the file is TOO huge to start with it's problematic - can time out before upload can occur.

@T 24

What's that in the 3rd photo?

I'm a bit confused by that 5th photo of the headers. Obviously there are 4 pipes connecting to the exhaust ports in the head, but what's that 5th one coming up at an odd angle?

Also the following photo of the plenum chamber (I presume that's what it is)
I can't see where that sits in on any of the other pics?

As for the oil pan - I can't tell just from the photo why that's been removed? Presumably for an oil feed/return for the turbo, but where?

@Halibag  I know your bike is a little more unconventional but I'm wondering if you have any tips / advice / photos etc that may be of use to me in this endeavour?

Searching the interwebs I found this, which looks 'pretty' but holy snapping duckshit batman USD$3300!
That's $4,632 of our aussie Dollarydoos !

The 'blurb' states the following is included.
QuoteTotal kit includes:
Turbocharger modified TD05H-16G
Exhaust header
Exhaust pipe (without muffler)
Billet fuel rail
Extra fuel nozzles
Pro Boost Fuel enrichment controller (PBFEC-3.0) with wiring
Plenum with attachment braces
Alloy pressure pipe
Silicone hoses for pressure lines
Stainless clamps for pressure lines and carbs <- I'm gonna assume that's a typo.
Oil lines and gaskets for turbo
Oil cooler lines, adapters and gaskets
Pressure/vacuum lines
Fuel lines and necessary clamps
Boost gauge, bracket and line
Air filter
Clutch springs
All nuts, bolts and washers etc. for assembly
installation Instructions USB stick

I get that electronic control etc is going to make it more expensive and (I'd assume more unnecessarily complex) but that's a crapton of money. I assume that quite a few of the mention inclusions are necessitated by the fact its an electronically controlled system (eg fuel rail and nozzles)

I didn't buy the complete kit from Proboost, I bought parts from Ebay, had some used parts from car turbo projects, and made some parts by myself etc,
So my total price was less than 2000€ including Dyno, papers and MOT.

Vlad, the typo "carbs" should read "throttle bodies", those are the clamps to connect the plenum to them.

That's a pretty comprehensive kit from proboost.  And its all pretty much bolt on.  The hardest part is the exhaust manifold, i reckon there's a lot of time and money in that fabrication.  At least with the 1400 motor there's no need to upgrade the bottom end with large main and bigend bearings or conrods, unless you're  chasing serious hp. So that saves some money.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Well because it just needs "a few extra dollars" to get it all installed right?  :rofl2:

I'd be really appreciative if you were/are able to point me towards particular parts required so I can keep an eye out for them / whack a  search thing in ebay.

While on the turbo subject - which I don't know anything about -- I have a newbie/dumb question to you all knowledgeable people with experience in Turbo matters: how is the turbine (is that the right name?) lubricated? Is it sharing/connected to the regular engine oil lubricating/cooling circuit, and if so isn't there any issue with regular engine oil grade/thickness considering the high temperature and extremely high RPM the turbine is supposed to reach (if I understood correctly)?

VladTepes

Spongebob usually the engine/trans oil is perfectly fine and people plumb a circuit from the oil pan and back, with a specific oil pump feeding the turbo from that.

Shifty

Hi kids

Been a while.

I turbo'd mine in about 2009. I sold that as it was a bit of a handful, I learned a lot of lessons from the build that might help others & have plenty to offer. Rather than info dumping  if anyone had any specific questions please let me know - either here, PM, or by far the best is Facebook messenger (PM me will give my name).

I sold that one, got a other to turbo but was hit in traffic in q major accident, I now have a third and am doing a fairly decent build on it as money permits. I really need a sponsor.

Currently held up a little due to some mental health challenges costing me both time to work on the bike, and a lot of money (time off work) but I'm still progressing little odds and ends every week or two while still leaving the bike on the road.

VladTepes

G'day @Shifty
I see you've gone with the rear turbo option.
My understanding is that that location is the usual choice for racing and the front location for road use?
I don't really understand the difference or why you've done it the way you have? I am intrigued.
