Away for its first service after I bought her, only to be told by the garage, that the sump bolt had been stripped previously and put back with plumbers tape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So its whole exhaust off then the sump and thread repair done, so what started out as a £170 service, £109 for a back tyre fitted, is now going to cost a shit load more for this repair!!!FFS
Sent email to garage I bought her from , but its just over a year and a half since I bought it and due to health reasons, did hardly any miles last year and so kept her off road till things ok,
Not sure if they will claim ignorance, even though they serviced it when I bought it!!!
Prob turn round and say I did it since owning it!!
Wouldn't  have sent it to a local bike shop for the service if that was the case!!!

Ah that's a right sh*tter.
I bet a pound to a penny the garage you bought it from knew full well it was buggered when they sold it to you :furious: :furious:
Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups!

Probably only came with  three month warranty, so they will most likely tell you to do one.  What a pisser.

i had a similar experience at a suzuki dealer in Edinburgh i brought the bking from them saying it wasn't going to be used untill the spring .
first ride out i find the reg/rec is knackered a common problem it had 1 recall and after i sold it another recall.
i contacted the dealer out of warranty they say i wasnt happy they sold me a reg/rec for cost only £100 instead of £200+
plus a battery not from them .
that left a bad taste and i never got on with that bike .
replaced it with a 2nd 14 now a happy chap.

As I thought, said it could have happened after it left them, totally untrue but due to the length of time, I said I didn't want anything from them as it was in getting repaired at another place!! So Approx £120 for it to be repaired, and back early next week, fully serviced and a new rear tyre also!!
Hope this summers good so I can get my monies worth out of her!!

I had a similar shit workmanship from a very well known dealership. Yamaha. Done a service. Out of warranty. I began to do work. Oil filter put on too tight with no oil on seal. It was welded on.

I wish I'd have taken a picture of the mess.

Makes you wonder why people do their own servicing rather than rely on the professionals.

i do all my own servicing

my 2 local bike shops/dealers bith not worth going to
suzuki/kawasaki/triumph dealer charge for anti-freeze/coolent for the wifes 14
the honda/yamaha dealer charged my friend for 4 spark-plugs on a vtr1000 (a v twin)

i would let any of them near my bikes .
