Which mirrors?

I have a 2003 bike, bought used in 2020 and restored to its original beauty and health.
Original mirrors are simply worn out. It seems previous owner tightened all the screws so bad, it is not possible to have them wind resistant.
Every few time I need to reposition them with hands or see myself framed instead of the cars on my back.
Now: I am evaluating third party mirrors, but it seems they have millions of ways to be connected to the bike and I am looking for something similar to the stock.

Can someone confirm something like this (please just don't look at the finish, just the installation way) is good for the GSX1400?

Is the needed screw a M10 x 1,25?

Thank you very much

Which bits are worn out through overtightening?  There must be a way to set them & lock them in place, worn thread or not.

Try setting them where you want them & put some Loctite on the threads, or epoxy or JB Weld.

Athel, just get some Loctite 263 or similar, refit your stock mirrors with it on thread. Wont move again. Make sure you put mirrors where you want them, they cant be moved again in threaded part. Will work, buy the smallest bottle you can, not cheap. I have a stock pair you can have but postage way too much. Itll work.

Will post here pictures of the issue so to have your feedback

Dump them and buy barend mirrors. Standard mirrors just look at shoulders  :stir: :stir: :stir:

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

Athel - Loctite seems like the best way forward, however, have you tried using a small spacer(washer)/split washer to try and get the thread to `lock-up` at a different area of the thread?

Don't for get he's in upside down land, so bar end mirrors may work better down there  :stir: :stir: :stir:

Bought a couple of Rizoma Radial RS, in black colour

It is one of the products sharing default mounting position, yet well 'lateral' ensuring great rear view

Will post a pic once mounted.

I agree with GSX, bar ends far better. Only advantage with standard is its easier to pick the bugs off your face.

You can stop your standard mirrors spinning - see this article

Yeah, but lane filtering is that much harder. I'm already at 780mm with the aftermarket 'bars, then adding bar end mirrors mean I have to wait in traffic like a gold wing rider....
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

What Barmy said even if he did steal it from me.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

Irish in Oz

I never see anyone in my mirrors.
