Did you know:- The word Chunder is derived from convicts calling out on prison boats from above as they vomited. Calling "Watch Under" to anyone below decks.  :hat:

The more frequent internet claim is two gallons per foot ! (patently wrong) but yours is actually overly generous!

QE2 fuel bunker capacity is approximately one million gallons (Cunard source) .

1,000,000 x 125 ft - 125,000,000 feet = approx 23,674 miles range.

Cunard however cites the QE2's cruising range as a cruising range of 7,500 miles.
Based on their figures of 1 million gallons and 7,500 mile range, that works out to  39.6 feet per gallon

Cunard state 49 feet per gallon in calm, open seas.
Given weather variations the average fuel consumption probably is 40-50 feet per gallon.!

Some interesting comparison of various cruise ships on a gallons/hour basis here: https://cruises.lovetoknow.com/wiki/How_Much_Fuel_Does_a_Cruise_Ship_Use

Quite correct, it should be the only Australian Capital City named after another place.
Canberra is based on an aboriginal name meaning "Vacuous hole of filth".

I believe the same applies to the old Anglo-Saxon name for Westminster...  ;)
