Gidday bagpuss, it's preferred new members introduce themselves in this section here: https://gsx1400owners.org/forum/index.php?board=20.0 prior to adding to the boards or asking questions, that being said, why do you want / need to rebuild your 14 motor?  They're normally bullet proof, so what woe has befallen it?

Evening Bagpuss, how the hell have you managed to blow up a 14 so it needs rebuilding???

Having said that, when I looked at Suzuki prices recently pistons etc were 50-75% off so I think they are getting rid of old stock. So if you need to do it then now's the time.

Hi Bagpuss! What is the problem with your 14? Mileage?

Mick_J

Where are you Bagpus?  Why cant you do it yourself, the 1400 is not over complex.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Hi bagpuss.
Not on my 14 , but on my Harley last yr..I was gonna use heat resistant paint..as you do..my pal is a spray painter..and suggested just normal rattle can paint..I told him to piss off , but convinced me to give it a shot,
So getting most of the old paint off with a wire brush. Two coats of etch primer to give it a key..and 3 coats of normal black rattle can paint..the finish is fantastic, and to date still looks fantastic, no chips ,flakes ,nothing..
Barrells and cases are no problem as they dont get as hot as heads...(Harleys are chrome so not done mine) so cant vouch for them...see attached photo
Bikes , beer , blondes ........& Bacon🤣😎
