.Never use it. Just doesnt feel right to me,

My wife is the same. A couple of times a month she go's into the office, It's about 180k's (110 miles) each way so a long day for her. It's mostly highway with few reasons to stop so leaving early morning is a nice run and she does not and will not use it. She just doesn't like it.

I'm the opposite. Much as I love the acceleration, braking, gears and having some input,  soon as I'm out of town mine is in "use" mode on cars and bikes and anywhere I'm holding a set speed on the highway or proper long stretches of open road it's on.

I have a few health issues from worsening arthritis to previous work and bike injuries to a hernia and I'm noticing things aren't getting better with age! My last two bikes cruise control is something that lets me do longer runs again, and ride less upright bikes for more than short distances.

Very much as Grog says "Each to their own".

it's so easy to creep up to a safe speed rather than a legal one.

It's taken a little while but now Woolich Racing have cracked the Gen-3  ECU access and are making the software and cables available.

The restrictive exhaust can be fixed with a Gen-2 aftermarket full system and a minor electrical mod, so it'll be interesting to see how it responds.

I'm not expecting huge 45hp gains like the H2 but meeting Euro-5 specs may possibly have strangled the motor a bit?

Either way it's a step forward as it's now open to tuners and performance mods.

Not a Busa but saw GSXR 1000 in black with red trim today. Akra exhaust. Beautiful looking bike. Actually proud of Suzuki for that one. 👍

Today:

Thoughts:

* Still running in so 5500rpm / 160kph / 100mph "ish"  (So they tell me)  :whistling:

* I think the ECU doesn't give full throttle until over 5000rpm even when the right hand does so it still pulls surprisingly well if it's not getting all what it's told. (This will be corrected with the Woolich flash).

* Seat isn't GSX14 comfy but it's better than the H2 or B-King.

* The B-King and a Gen-2 I've used had an occasional nasty BTL where if you used engine braking up to a set of lights for example they seemed to load up the clutch ramp, you had to feed in a bit of clutch and get a jolt, or, you got a snatch (Oh-err!) pulling away sometimes. Fixable by locking up the BTL but you really shouldn't have too. The Gen-3 seems to have fixed this.

* Quick shifter is VERY good. Much nicer than the Kwak's. I ended up turning the H2's off for sensible use and on for aggressive use. Not only is the Busa's smoother to use but you can leave it turned on and not notice it's there, the H2's was a bit trigger happy and with it on just finding the lever with your toes could jolt you into the next gear if you got a bit lazy or clumsy, I couldn't adjust it out so just used it ON or OFF where this one I can leave on and around town forget it's there.

* Bike has 6 modes, 3 preset and 3 with options (something even the new £44k Norton lacks) Pre set Sport Mode A leaves the quick shifter on in Full Power but it's so useable that it's fine for day to day use.  Bikes like the Busa, B-King and H2 might have a bit of go when you stir the pot but with a heap of grunt and good fueling the soft maps are of questionable use, when not used in anger they share a similar usability to the 14.

Other bikes do some stuff better but this bike is good at what it is.

More importantly...... the GSX14 will be back in use either this Friday or next so I get comfort and a big tank along with luggage and some upright bars again.  :onya:

GSXKING

I had a B-King & it chewed rear tyres & wheelied everywhere a good hooligans bike certainly not comfortable  :whatever:
My GSX has few rider aides (fuel injection) thank goodness NO ABS it's very raw 👍👍
When I ride my BMW RT it has plenty of rider aides too many to list but is very enjoyable also.
Hayabusa is incredible machinery but I couldn't live with one 😁
My two cents worth 🧐

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

I have ZERO chance of owning one financially, but if they came in back with the red trim I'd love one.

If they came without a fairing I'd have one but otherwise no.  The B-king was awful, tried one and it felt like I was sitting on the crapper, fat (fake tank) was horrible and only help a cats piss amount of fuel.

The B-king

I've only had mine for about 14 and a half years, I'll give it a while before I make my mind up...  :rofl2:

A naked Hayabusa ?  Change the bars and remove the Tupperware...  :whistling:

Well, I took the new Hayabusa for a test ride on Wednesday. A close friend was going in to test ride a GSXS1000GT he was interested in so we went in on my K1600. As my friend was about to get ready the salesman asked if I wanted a to test ride something and there was the Hayabusa.
I'm guessing we went a little longer than expected, about 45 minutes and 50km (Mundaring Weir Rd if you know it). Didn't thrash the bikes or anything silly just wanted to see how they'd be day to day and if it was ergonomically suitable. I found at about the 30 minute mark I was getting sore in the shoulders and the arm pump starting to build as well as a crick in my neck on the left side. Those were the only faults and mostly would be cured by time in the saddle seated as such. I found out when I returned that cruise control is standard.
I've always had a penchant for sports tourer's and the 'Bus would make a great second bike.
I remember why I don't test ride bikes now.
May the sun be warm & shining and your roads be smooth & winding.

Some of our local dealers won't allow two mates on on dems at the same time, they end up racing.  This happened a couple of years ago, two mate both took out bikes, no bikes came back and only one rider lived to tell the tale.

@Batkwaka what was the report on GSXS1000ST ?
Your mate was lucky to get a test ride 🤨
Every one of them was sold prior to delivery in South East Queensland & some people onsold them for a profit prior to delivery 🧐🧐
Best SUZUKI in a long time apparently 😂😂

Yeah, the bars are noticeably lower than the rival H2 SX SE, although they are different and better than previous Busa's.  I've always had a Busa or GSXR11 for many years so although they aren't ideal for my age and health I can still enjoy them.

Cruise control was one of the selling points for me. As I've mentioned before I had it for 3 years on the Kwak and used it a lot more than I expected, it makes the lower bars a lot less of a deal when any straight or highway means you can take the weight off.

I've had a heap of Sports Tourers from a ZZR11, Blackbird, ZX12R, a few Gen-1 Busa's to a H2 SX SE.  Like you I have a liking for that style of bike and the Gen-3 is certainly the best I've owned.

Some folk often refer to the tech / rider aids etc.  Whats interesting is if you actually put some seat time in on one you can turn it off. No quick shift, no launch control, no shift lights, no traction control, no anti-wheelie settings etc etc. You can turn it back into a simple more basic bike. Even store it in the memory of one of the modes to go instantly to that set up. Despite what internet experts will tell you it's still very rideable and useable. Modern bikes fuel so well and are so progressive that a modern 180hp bike is very rideable compared to a 180hp tuned Old Skool bike.

I'd like to try the ST.

One of our S/E Qld members on here has just bought a new Kat with a similar motor.

Been reading about the 1000 GT. Seem to tick the boxes. Will look into a test ride.
