Quicker Throttle

I know lots on easy ways to do. Worries me putting cable ties etc under cables. If they come loose, throttle jammed. Anyone have a good reliable way to do. Just want a bit less turn for accelerating.

I think a R6 throttle tube does it?

Someone on here, from Croatia sorta direction I think, made up a metal insert to go under the cable & gave the sizes etc to make it.

Grog try turning the throttle like a screwdriver rather than rolling your wrist up and down.
They were trying to push that on the recent track day.

Am i right, if just get another set of foam grips, they slide over whats already there, should also give quicker action, means i dont have to change any internals.

You'd need the same amount of rotation for the same throttle movement & as the outer surface of the grip will then be moving further it might feel like you've made it worse.

I think I'm correct in saying that if you have a Power Commander fitted you can adjust throttle sensitivity that way. The R6 throttle tube does the job too.

There used to be a company called Hairy R's that made a throttle clip which fitted under the cables on the twist grip. Stupid expensive for a tiny piece of plastic and not very good. Tried to fit one to a mates Busa and it just kept jamming the throttle, so it was sent back.

I've seen it done using a cabletie the same width as the twist grip tapered at each end and flies to the original twist grip so is under the cables .
Very crap and cheerful.
@grog Not heard of the throttle sensitivity being able to be changed/adjusted by a powercommander .

It's a direct replacement for the 1400 throttle tube. The diameter of radius where the cables slot in and rotate is slightly larger on the R6 tube therefore meaning you turn less for full throttle. In effect it gives you a 1/4 action throttle twist...If that makes sense...

Accelerator pump function doesn't increase throttle sensitivity. It just causes a richer mixture during the time the throttle is opened further. That might produce a quicker reaction from the engine, but the butterflies will still be in the same place. So twisting enough for 60mph will still need the same amount of twist, it just may act differently while the speed increases.

No problem mate.

Oddly enough on bikes with FBW throttles you can adjust the throttle sensitivity via the ECU etc, that's how rider modes work.

I knew about the accelerator pump function .
I've never tried it but folk who have say it makes the bike not as smooth and quite strange to ride .

Found throttle tubes. $20. Motion Pro name of company. Stock is 1/4 turn. R1 is 1/5. R6 is 1/6. Any idea anyone which is best ratio.

From those numbers

Standard 90 degrees
R1 72 degrees
R6 60 degrees

So the R6 tube will only need 2/3rds the movement of the standard one.

I've never tried a quicker throttle to know how it feels though.
