Hi, Still working on my old SRAD and now deciding on front disc replacements. I can get a pair of used OEM's which are 4.7mm thick and am assured are true and sound for between £50 to £80 depending upon negotiation. Alternatively I can get these brand new:

I am on a tight budget here but want obviously want to be safe. Personally I'm leaning towards the new set but any thoughts or other recommendations would be much appreciated.

Again thanks ever so much for anyone taking the time to reply.

I would say if your budget is tight and the used disks are true get them, £200 in your pocket has to be a good thing.  How much are you going to use the 750?  if it's loads and you are going to use it on track then you would have to consider the new disks but if it's only occasionally on the road get the used ones.  You could also fit organic pads to the used set to limit the wear on them to a minimum but 4.7mm seems like plenty of life left in them.  Just a few thoughts.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Hi Mate,
Thanks for replying. Not going to put many miles on it maybe 500/1000 per year and also a few track days. The new discs in the link are £143 for a pair (not each) so it's only probably £70 more for the new ones. Still not made my mind up yet.

EBC disks get some good reviews, might be worth a look

Few options there to choose from with varying prices (scroll down their page)
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

We replaced the disc on all 3 bikes over the years with ebc ones very good quality and a very good price too.

Hi Phil
I have a set of brand new discs that might be of use to you?.  3 years ago, I ordered new discs for a project I was doing, using a year 2000 Suzuki GSX750F front end.  However, the vendor sent me Year 2000 GSX R 750 discs in error which I still have.

The correct discs of the same manufacturer (M-Factory) (290 mm diameter) have been fitted to my GT380 based Cafe racer for 3 years and 1000 miles and seem perfectly adequate.

So the discs I have are wavy with black centres, 300mm in diameter and are dished by 15mm. (That is measured from the mounting face to the inner face of the disc.  Knowing Suzuki tend to sue similar parts across their range these might well fit your bike?

If they are any good for you, they are available.  I don't live very far from you, so it would be a good excuse to get out for a ride, especially after lockdown. I wouldn't have a problem bringing them over to you to have a look at.

PM me with your e-mail, and I could send you some phots.  (I haven't yet mastered how to get photos on this forum)!!!

Kindest Regards

Chip
I have a 2003 GSX1400 owned since new (Blue and White of course).  I have a 1977 Suzuki GT380 café racer and A Japanese import Yamaha XG250 Tricker.  I'm interested in anything mechanical.  Was an aircraft technician / inspector, but I took early retirement - because I could!

Hi Chip,
That's really kind of you and very much appreciated. I was going to change the discs because the front right one has what I considered very loose bobbins that I assumed would fail an MOT and would probably not be safe. However, this afternoon I had the disc looked at by a local experienced mechanic. He is quite confident the disc is perfectly safe and will pass an MOT and it is quite common for floating disc bobbins to be as loose as mine. I am therefore holding fire on the discs until I get the bike ready to MOT which will be another couple of weeks. If it fails I will definitely PM you with my details.

Again thanks ever so much.
Kind Regards
Phil

No problems.

Hope the MOT goes well.  I've had these discs for 3 years so I don't expect there will be a rush on them! :)

I am assuming they will fit.  Might be an idea just to check the size first though?

Regards

Chip.
