Welcome Geoff

Hmmm, in the vmax comunity one successful mod is to drill out the rivets and remove the chrome backplate. Then drill 10mm holes in the plate underneath around the central pipe. Then refit the backplate and space it out by using washers underneath it. This saves wrecking the internals and works well on a Vmax keeping the standard look.

Mine was registered 08/09/2001

Nearly as old as mine registered on the 3rd August 2001.

So is yours on an X plate then Hooli?

Y. Plates used to change for August didn't they.

I`m Geoff from West Sussex. I wasnt looking for a GSX1400 I was actually looking for a GS1000 to go with my other classics of which there are too many. I gave up looking and suddenly started looking at more modern Suzukis. Bought this 2001 K2 a few weeks back with just 2800 miles on it. I plan to use it as regularly as possible and today a nice parcel arrived from Blue Flame. I love the styling and it`s a cracking bike to ride.

Looks like it's in awesome nick. How old are the tyres on the bike ?

Best allrounder I've ever owned 👍

The tyres are brand new as is the battery. I know all about rock hard tyres. The originals are still on my `86 Vmax but replacements ready to go on.

I often wonder why someone buys a beautiful bike, does no miles on it then sells it 20 years later. Was it expensive ?

Some see it as an investment in a future classic and take the risk. There is a guy local to me who bought a limited edition Ford Focus RS500 a few years back (only 500 made) - it's done 3 miles in that time. Each year it gets trailered to the dealers for a full service - but is never driven.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Dealer loves him then !
(I'll bet they don't even bother to change the oil - maybe just the filter in case he's marked it. But I bet they do charge full tilt)

I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.
