I just watched a video of a man pick the oxford beast motorcycle lock in less than a minute, it's scary stuff . Lockpickinglawyer. (YouTube)

VladTepes

Great channel I've been watching that for ages.

He did pick it BUT he had to use a specialised tool he'd modified for the job so its still one of the best / least LIKELY to be picked locks out there.

You want scary - have a look at just how TERRIBLE and easily opened many firearm locks are - particularly those designed for police use in the USA !  It's a joke...

I did vlad, I saw the one where he opened a gun case with a spoon, the one where he opened a police gun rack lock with a magnet, it is scary stuff!!!.

After watching a stack of his videos I got a lock picking kit with a Perspex trial lock off eBay to have a go, got it pretty quickly so had a crack at the locks around the house, the only ones I could pick were the short key Laminated Master locks, picked them in 10 seconds but failed miserably on the Lockwood and Abus locks that I have, needless to say the Master locks are now in a landfill somewhere. As someone once said, locks are only there to keep honest people out

VladTepes

Not really as honest people wouldn't be coming in at all.

More to stop opportunists, rather than premeditated thefts.

Sadly in the UK most of the bike thieving scrotes are armed with battery powered disc cutters. They get though most locks and chains in seconds :furious: :furious:

How secure are garage door locks. Used to have an up and over door which was easily lifted and bent. Nothing taken thankfully. Now have a double skinned rollover door.
I've always thought of somehow putting some additional  security on the door that is only accessed electrically or magneticly or a lever at the base of the door that is not immediately visible.

I'd fit one, possibly two Garage Defender locks to make sure its really secure...

I tried using a disc lock many years ago. I left it on once and tried to take off. Bike stopped and toppled to the left I tore my hamstring badly. I threw the lock away in a fit of rage    :whistling:

As I said Froudy. I've now got a rollover door. That wouldn't work :P

Anyway, I'd rather have something that doesn't shout. " I'VE GOT SOMETHING RATHER VALUABLE IN HERE".  It's in a lockup. There are weeds growing in front of the door. I thought I might clear them  away, then thought again. It would make it obvious my lockup is used a lot so I would then have to clear the weeds from all the lockups so as not to be so obvious.

I decided to leave them.

I saw a video on YT recently - on the Missendenflyer's channel - he shows this kind of boom gate thingy he has inside his garage door.
Looks like a pretty good thing but is NOT cheap!

Chap l knew had a business in an industrial area. Ram raids became popular so when he locked up he parked his forklift inside against the door. He said depending on his mood depended which way round he would park it.
I liked his thinking.   :clapping:
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I can exit the garage via a side door into the house. On the inside of the garage  door there's 5 padlocks + the door lock securing the door.
Started out with nothing, still got most of it left.
