QuoteAerial footage captures the terrifying moment a P-plate motorbike rider is allegedly clocked doing 247km/h in a 60km/h zone during a dramatic police chase

A 23-year-old disqualified driver was seen speeding up to 247km/h in a 60 zone, police allege

A P-plate motorbike rider has been captured allegedly speeding at 247km/h in a 60 zone during a dramatic police chase.

The 23-year-old man who held a disqualified licence was allegedly carrying a pillion passenger and had his rear number plate obstructed when he caught the attention of police in Wiley Park, south-west Sydney on Saturday morning.

Officers were unable to stop the Suzuki GSX-R1000 and PolAir was used to track the driver who was allegedly driving on his back wheel.

The motorcyclist eventually pulled over at a home in Greenacre and tried to hide after dumping his bike in the front yard.

Police eventually arrested the 23-year-old and discovered his licence had been disqualified until 2023.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with not stopping in police pursuit, drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive during disqualification period, and vehicle number plate obscured.

Footage taken by PolAir shows the bike speeding down highways and driving erratically through streets.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott, said the dangerous driving was putting everyone's lives at risk.
'I was in disbelief on learning that one offender was clocked doing more than 240km/h in a 60 zone. This is absolutely moronic behaviour at a time when our emergency services workers are focused on the fight against the pandemic,' he said.

'It was only last week we saw the tragic loss of four officers in Victoria who were simply doing their jobs to protect the community.
'The Commissioner and I recently announced 250 additional police across the state. These officers will be out enforcing the law to protect society from individuals who think their dangerous driving won't kill an innocent family.'

The motorcyclist was refused bail and will appear again in court on May 6.

If history is anything to go by, he'll get his license suspended for longer... which clearly will make f-all difference to him...

Why is it called Squidding?    From Google . . .

Squid was a combination of the words squirrelly and kid and meant someone who basically couldn't keep their lines in a turn and kind of did a zigzag. The term later grew to encompass anyone who wasn't prepared, such as people under-geared and unprepared for the inevitable accident.

Errrr....what's squidding ?

Stupid
Quick
Underdressed
Imminently
Dead

An extremely rare animal with a short lifespan. Usually a new sport bike enthusiast with the reasoning of a lunatic, whom you might see thrashing on a Gixxer wearing Nike TNs, footy shorts, and a Lonsdale T-shirt.
When found lying motionless on the pavement, this creature transforms itself into a stream of blood, exposed flesh, and broken limbs. Hence the squid moniker.
