Hi.
Well, the new to me 1400 needs a bit of fettling.
Ive not had a chance to ride it yet, but whilst stood still, I've gradually increased the revs to about 5500, when it suddenly starts to splutter. I've checked the TPS. And it seems ok but, on close inspection, I find that the bike has previously had a Scot oiler on it. The tube that runs from vacuum pipe between 1 & 2  has just been pulled out, there fore leaving a union that is open and air can be sucked in. Will this cause  the spluttering ??????

I think you've got it in one Iain.  :onya: :clapping: :worshippy:

Yep.. that will upset the pressure sensor

Correctamundo. Replace all your vacuum lines and t piece connectors whilst youre at it, will make a huge difference.  Pour about 1/2 a bottle of injector cleaner   jnto the tank, that really helps to clean out any gummed up fuel, especially if the bike has been laid  up for a bit.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Thanks folks.
Just need to source some pipe and t pieces now.

Halfords do pipe the right size (3mm from memory) one pack is enough. You can reuse all the t-pieces as you take the old one apart. I built my new vacuum lines up in a sink of hot water, it makes the pipes much easier to slide over the t-pieces.

I'd cut all the bits to size first though.

On mine two t pieces broke when i started to take it apart.  Bought a 15m roll of 3mm nb vacuum hose off ebay and a box of nylon fittings of various shapes and sizes for around 40bucks.  Did the vac lines on the 1402 and on my D4.  The hot water idea is a good one.

After fitting some new vacuum pipe, and whilst at it, a new battery. The bike revs all way to red line.
Insurance and tax over next few days. And since the country is becoming self isolated, the roads will be clear. Yeeehaaaaaar.

Glad to hear you got it sorted.

May be an expensive  ride even with deserted roads. Here they are talking about AUD 50,000 fines if you are caught outside during a mandatory isolation period.

I guess with a properly tuned 1402 its harder to get caught....

He knows no more or no less than anyone else - there is no blueprint for what is happening right now, so I doubt he's a buffoon Iain
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Iain

Granted. But for a few years now, he has been known s Boris the buffoon.
Anyway, this post isn't about him, it's about my bike. 😁

Well sorted mate, always like good results. Now just enjoy it.

I like Boris, he doesn't pretend to know everything unlike a lot of the others near that job. That alone gives me more trust in him.
