I just saved £263 on my car insurance, which reminded me to look at my bike policy and I'm ok it's not due until Jan 2020, and I'm wondering can I get it lower than the £74.48 p,fully comp I'm paying this year, let's hope so!.

Irish in Oz

That's pretty good the equivalent to 145 AUD then there is green slip on top of that about 400 AUD then rego 120AUD.
Aussie's are you reading this.

Tally

@ Irish , what does a green slip and rego refer to?. I'm guessing mot  and road tax equivalent ?.

Irish in Oz

Tally, the Green Slip is a third party cover for personal injury to your passengers and pedestrians, rego is road tax.

So Aussie road tax is about 60 quid, the third party cover is about 200 quid, the comprehensive cover is about 150 quid.

Leave you all to Tally it up.

KiwiCol

It's about NZD$1000 - $1100 for Rego (road tax & ACC) & Full Comp bike Ins here.  About $550 each.

Col
NZ is probably dearer than Oz, I expected that.
Based on Oz Insurance $300 plus $120 Rego plus Compulsory Green Slip $400 = $820 or 400 GBP.

I did quick calculation Tally is up for 150 AUD Insurance plus 160 AUD Rego = 310 AUD on the road.

Well !!! My insurance is £70 fully comp ,cheaper than last year a whole £4 cheaper, and that's a renewal quote from the company I'm currently with. Comparing all the markets available no-one comes close , so I guess I don't have to do anything at all, just sit back and relax knowing my wallets not being robbed this year. Happy new year  :boogie: :boogie: :smitten:

In my experience, every written renewal quote is significantly higher that in the previous year, at my last renewal they wanted 24.5 per cent more :furious:, when nothing had changed! For that reason I always call them, and for the sake of 5 mins on the phone i get it for either the same as last year or slightly cheaper!! Works every time.

A tip is to re insure 20-26 days prior to your renewal date in the UK because that is the time period when the most number of insurers will be prepared to provide a quote through your broker, therefore the competition for your business is at its greatest.

Its surprising the number of people i talk to who don`t verbally challenge their insurers over renewal quotes, and the insurers luv `em!

Notty

Renewal was £149 so got it down to £84 from Bennetts with protected NCD (11 Years)  :)
The older I get the better I was
The problem with retirement is that you cant take a day off

Not bad notty ,not bad at all especially as it's from Bennetts, I chucked them in because they wanted silly money. Mine at the mo is £70fc,also 11yrs NCB(protected). :smitten:

Just had a renewal quote for my bike for 2021 . It was £70 fully comp for 2020, my quote this time a princely sum of £50,21p . They asked would I like to pay monthly ( :rofl2:), I said no , i think I can manage to pay annually this year. I'm going to see if devitts who I'm currently with can beat it, I don't hold out much hope though.  :notworthy:

Are you all saying per month - here it about $1000 Canadian and if your a new drive you might be looking at 3K/a
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!
