I'm on the look out for a good bike cover the 14.
Since I've had her I've been using an old Aldi one with holes covered with duct tape which is probably doing nothing.
I'm looking at this

Size large with top box.
Would this be big enough for a top box on the 14? And most of all is it a good cover?

Hi SB,
I HIGHLY recommend the JDC covers.. They do different weights..
I use the "Ultimate Heavy Duty" version..
They also do versions to accommodate top boxes on bikes..

My bike lives outdoors and I swear by this cover.. This winter will be my 3rd with this cover..

Have a look...

+1 for JDC.

I use JDC Ultimate Rain in size "L" - https://www.jdc-products.co.uk/waterproof-motorcycle-cover.
I't thick, heavy cover, which have soft lining and heat protective layer in back part (protection from hot exhaust).
it's in use for 2 summers, and even sun is doing it's job (cover is not black but grey now), it cant be compared to cheaper covers. I'm preatty sure, it will be in use for next 2 summers. Size "L" is a little bit loose, but cover have loops and I fix it with straps to both wheels. I think, size "M" will be also OK, but I did not risk and ordered "L".
Will take and post some pictures tomorrow.

Also, I have, JDC Rain, which is thin, one layer cover. Got it for travel purposes, but never take it out of the bag :). But someday I will  :onya:

Just been out and checked.. Mine is an "XL" and its very generous...
Before I bought my cover I had borrowed the same thing in "L" and it fitted fine, except it was off the ground an inch or two.
To be honest either will do.. The one I have now is maybe slightly large / Baggy but so what...

Thank you Mr Notty.
Just looked at the cover and if I'm super critical I would say the XL is a tad on the large side.
Bloody good cover though.

OP look on the JDC website as they do different weights of covers.
For instance if you just need a dust cover for inside a garage then my cover is overkill!

JDC Ultimate Rain in size "L" after 2 summers of usage (~Aprill - ~October, not using it during winter).

@northern
Thanks lad that JDC looks the business.
Any experience at all with it over the winter months?
Unfortunately no shed here so all bikes I've ever had where kept outdoors.

No. Never hold any of my bike's outside during winter.
But, it seems, for winter it would be better to use 1 step more robust cover from JDC:

SB,
I bought my JDC "Ultimate Heavy Duty" because I am in the same boat as yourself..
My bike does NOT live in a garage but is outside under cover 12 months a year.. Its because of this I went for the Very Heavy Duty version of the JDC range!
Originally I had an Oxford cover.. Oxford make brilliant heated grips but CRAP covers...
As I said in my original answer to you, this coming winter will be my 3rd winter using this cover..

Generally when I attend bike meets people are amazed that my bike isn't garaged considering the great condition shes in.. They are even more amazed when I tell them I ride 12 months a year (including through the salt 'n shite they put on the roads).

See Photos!!

But with a wash (WITH HOT WATER) and a rinse down with the hose pipe my bike is pretty much rust free!
Just whilst I am on my soap box...
I hear a fair amount of rubbish talked about why you dont use hot water to wash salt off..
I have always used hot water on every bike I have ever owned and yet none have rotted away and rusted..
So I shall keep on with my "heathen" ways. It works for me (and Sophie).

+1 on the JDC heavy duty... mines kept outdoors all year round and the cover has now managed 4 pretty cold winters without any issue.  :onya:

Just posting for any Aussies that want a good bike cover. its not for storing outside in northern winters, no heat shields or fluffy lining etc. Haigh from Repco, around $50. Largest size fits 14 perfectly. Elastic straps over both wheels, another that goes under bike.Agree oxford is shit, didnt last 2 years. Haigh has lasted 9 yars, out in sun average 2 1/2 days a week. Think this will be replaced soon but been superb. Throw in washing machine to clean. Maybe just chinese but works perfectly. No sun damage to bike in all that time. I marked with Texta so i knew which was front, can fit in one minute.

Seeing the photo's of your bike covered in Winter salt reminds me why I have decided to no longer commute on the bike from October until end of March from now on :onya:
