Some time back we had a motorcycle book thread, but I figured it'd be good to have a more general one.

Feel free to contribute your favourites that you think others would enjoy.

I'll kick it off with -

A Son of the Red Centre, by Kurt G. Johannsen
"Memoirs and Anecdotes of the Life of Road Train Pioneer and Bush Inventor of the Northern Territory of Australia"

Absolute bloody legend, definition of persistence, (and inventor of the road train)
You will thank me for putting you on to this book !!!

Mailman of the Birdsville Track: the story of Tom Kruse
http://www.kristinweidenbach.com/books/mailman-of-the-birdsville-track-the-story-of-tom-kruse/

A fascinating insight into the Australia of the late 1920's and a couple of blokes who decided "Bugger it, let's do something that hasn't been done before" and ride around the country on a motorbike.

Around Australia the Hard Way in 1929 by Jack L. Bowers

'The Dry' - Jane Harper

Eric banner has signed up to be the main character for the movie. Honestly, I could just see David Wenham doing this roll. Interesting what maybe others may think when you read it.

Currently reading CASTLE OF THE EAGLES by Mark Felton  link

It's just brilliant, really enjoying it.

As an aside - For those with an interest in military history, including little known weapons, incidents, places etc Mark's YT channel is excellent. (Mark Felton Productions)

QuoteHow does the mind cope with such horrors.
According to the forgotten soldier it does not cope well if at all.

I am more than glad to not have to go through even a tiny fraction of such horror.
