My 14 is not feeling well. No charging...

By several testing, I find out what problem is with alternator/generator. According to service manual, generator coil resistance should be 0.2–1.0Ω (between all 3 generator wires). Mine was 0.3Ω, 54kΩ, 56kΩ.
Also unregulated voltage was ~1.5V on one coil...

I know, stater coils have to be changed.
Because, I did not want to drain oil (just 3000km old), I gently put my girl on a side and it touch ground only with crash-bars (Renntec), wheels and foot rest. Perfect! Not a drop of oil was lost.

First I want to use service, to replace old coil wiring to new... It would cost me 120-150€... But then I find new OEM part for 245€, so I decide in favor of new part. At least I would have warranty.
And perfect timing - I call to shop (where I ordered generator coil) just half hour before they would place weekly order. And they order just on Mondays. Tomorrow, I will go away, for a week, and when I would be back, new part will be waiting for me  :boogie:

So, except -255€ (also order a gasket), everything went OK  :)

When I will have my part, I will make a post about diagnostic and testing in "Electrics" sub-forum

Today, upgraded headlight bulb to OSRAM H4 NIGHT RACER, big improvement over standard.
Also changed out rear light assy for clear LED type, and swapped the indicator lenses to the clear type along with Silvatec Chrome 343 Indicator Bulbs to avoid the fried egg look of the orange bulbs.
Then went on 100 odd mile round trip to take advantage of the decent weather, magic !!
Now need to spend some time de-flying the leather jacket and helmet visor :happy1:

Beekay.
The older I get, the faster I was !

RED, even I dont like totally black bikes (as a color) your 14 is magnificent! Very neat and "complete".
Well done!  :onya:

Lol thanks Northern, high praise indeed 👍
I'm toying with the idea of coating the rear shocks this winter 😀

It's looking Great Red. What about.
Black with matching (brake caliber Red) springs.
Do some photoshopping to get an idea. I think it would tie in beautifully with what you have done. I know it's more colour, but  :onya:

Ooh Sweaty you could be onto something there 👍
Sometimes I need a kick to remind me there is a whole world of colour out there 😀

Today, after more than a two weeks, I finally get ordered new generator coils, and install it.

today, my headlight been not coming on everytime. hard wired, no switch. didnt light up at all this morn. noticed the passing switch, yellow in front, not working. spent an hour, every plug on bike apart, blasted with wd40 and re plugged. light back on. pulled fuses , cleaned and re fitted. passing switch comes out of housing, cleaned contacts with tiny file, wd blast. working again. turned bike on/off 20 times, headlight on every time. hoping was just a dirty connection somewhere. time will tell. some connector plugs were very dirty, my reco. is pull them apart, spray clean and re fit. i used wd40, not sure if thats correct but thats what i used. any other recos. ill take on board. i mean a better product for wiring plugs. thanks grog

Put a bolt back in place of the one that fell out from the top of the left hand shock absorber. Only noticed it after riding the Wiseman's Ferry Road at the weekend.

Contact Cleaner by PYRMO or DINITROL is a good product. Its an old can i have but its great on those grotty flat trailer plugs full of dust and cobwebs !!
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Splashed out and bought a new GIVI top box and a pair of boots yesterday. Went for a ride today to try out the boots....good, comfortable.
Set a new record for my longest ride today.....32.3 kilometres.....I know, I know! Increasing slowly.
One thing I noticed on this mega length ride today is its a bit of a stretch to reach the bars without having straight arms. Does anyone think fitting bar risers will improve this. I'm 1.79 meters tall.

KiwiCol

There are some risers out there that also come back towards the rider. Have a google & see what's around, reckon the right sort would help.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

Hi Ian
You may also want to consider getting your seat built to your size shape!

It's the old mountain/Mohamed conundrum 👍

Thanks. I wondered if there was something like that available so it would sit me a bit more upright.

Thanks Red. That was going to be my second option. I was looking at those fancy seats made by some company in France. They look comfortable and nice. Only downside is they are expensive and not made to measure. Possibly I could look for second hand seat base and maybe one of the auto upholstery people might be able to do something for me.
