Took the rear wheel out of my bike today to investigate why my wheel was out of alignment which soon became very obvious when I checked the chain adjuster blocks and found out that the holes were offset. So some silly berk who shall remain nameless  didn't check them when replacing rear tyre ,chain and sprocket last time. Any way as the wheel was out I checked the wheel and sprocket bearings and they all sound quiet as a church mouse, but I will replace them as a matter of course.

Looking from the side of the bike, the axle holes aren't central in the adjuster block. So it's possible to rotate the blocks 180 degrees and have the axle in the wrong place. From memory the lip on each side of the block is different and thicker one should go towards the front of the bike.

Yes, one edge or lip is thicker, can't recall which end goes to the rear, but as long as both edges of the same thickness are facing the same way, the holes and therefore the axle should line up.  I think mine has the thick edges facing the rear. Will check.
I try to take one day at a time, however sometimes several days catch up with me at once.

Goodies arrived last night, to be fitted up this weekend:

Thank's to Hooli's tip, the only thing I did to my bike yesterday was ride it.  :smitten:

Oh and washed it, afterward.  :smitten:

Eric, fitted new clutch lever and bush few weeks back.Took all the wear out, funnily as now clutch takes up further out. Takes a bit to get used to, only maybe 10mm but we are fussy mongrels us humans. 😎

Yeah, that's what in expecting was pleased to see new push pins with the lever sets too.

Checked the old levers on the weekend, quite a bit of slop in them, looking fwd to the difference these new will make.

I actually liked clutch friction/ take up closer. I'll get used to it 🤷🏼

Hooli

One my old one with the aftermarket levers I'd epoxied a thin bit of metal to the contact face of the lever as the adjustment went from too far in to much too far in.

I also like the bite point close in to the bar, will see how we go,

Still not sure what to do with this one.

It doesn't really owe me anything, it's all there, it starts and go's.
On the other hand it has quite a few issues that would be expensive and time consuming to try and put right.

Pro- Yoshi full system, dyno mapped Powercommander, fork brace, luggage (rack and box), single seat cowl, jack up blocks, PAIR blanks etc.

Con- it's been thrown up the road, Noisey 3rd gear, badly dented tank, badly scarred engine cases, wrong headlight, wrong clocks, wrong mirrors, forks need oil/springs, mismatched indicators, needs a full service and a new battery, probably more.

Its value is pretty low if I sold it, it owes me nothing, I think I have $2,625 (£1,580) into it and I've had years of fun in return.

At the moment I think it's best left stored.
If I buy another good one it'd make a good spares / accessories donor.
If I but a wreck / stolen-recovered / write off it'd be an ideal bike to build 2 into 1 good one.

Probably change my mind again tomorrow.

An older pic..

Looks like the black in my garage Tony, also forlorn and wanting to be ridden.

Least mine has matching chinesium indicators that look sorta right. Mine has right angle valve stems, mirror extenders (in black) and Renthal black / gold bar ends to go with the gold renthal 754's. Annnnd, it's got standard clocks on it, with slight scuffing on the black paint on the tank, but, TBH, it's actually hard to see unless it's pointed out, but it's there alright.  Oh,and it's got the Delkevic 35cm carbon can and new wavy front discs, and NO Rider!!

:happy1:
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎

@GSXKing, I stupidly and without realising it I had adjuster blocks 180 degrees to each other, when I last worked on the bike I now know the thick ends butt up to the adjuster bolts and all is back in line now.

GSXKING

@Tally you've painted a picture for me. You'll now never do that again. Lesson learned. Thanks for taking the time to reply. 🙏🙏
