I rode to Whitby yesterday on the tractor for goth weekend, no pics as I'm lazy but some damn hot goth lasses there....

Today I only went to Squires & looking at all the bikes parked up I was wondering what I'd replace my 14 with eventually. I'm not sure I want another 14, despite them being brilliant bikes because it'd always be the wrong 14. I do like the Indian FTRs, shame I've got no money really. I think I need to find a local one & try a test ride to see if I need to start saving or not.

Hold on a minute Hooli, you will seriously regret your actions later down the line if you even consider not getting another 14 mate. Just think what ever 14 you look at it will always be better than mine   ;)  :onya:
Used to be known as Nomad many years ago when I was the chair in the Suzuki owners club if anyone still remembers me, it's been far too long. Have just built a mancave just for me and the 14 !!!

Plenty of Indian FTR's on the market down here Hooli. Some with very low kms, even 2022 new ones . I like the look of them too, but why so many for sale ?
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

grog

Lots for sale in Oz also. Only from reading up, quite a few faults which can be expensive to fix🤷

I like the idea of an FTR but with so many coming up second hand I have to ask why aren't people keeping them, and it's only got a 13ltr tank, I'd be stopping for fuel far too often.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Like I said, only looking slightly & I do like how they look. 13 ltr tank is enough to scrub them off the list though.

Nothing will be happening for ages as I'll get an insultingly low payout for mine & can't afford to buy owt.

I was looking at an FTR as well . I don't know of any reliability issues though, what I do know is Indian have announced they are discontinuing making the bike and dealers are now marking them down in price to clear showrooms. Maybe so many second hand ones are coming onto the market ,owners are worried about servicing and spares etc, etc,. Anyway that's my tuppence worth.

New chain and sprockets fitted today, nice and easy job to do,no dramas. While the clutch cover was off  I cleaned the rod as it was filthy and removed all the crud that had collected there. Used my new chain alignment tool to get everything in line. VMX90 gear oil to lube. Going for a ride out tomorrow (sun), then check it all over and adjust if necessary.

New mot, technically it failed on front brake light switch but he fixed it immediately. Noticed a clicking on front wheel, turns out it's the pad moving on one side slight, will try tweaking cover plate/anti rattle plate to stop it.

Did you clean the slave cylinder too?

There's a metal cover over it held with two screws. Take that off & you'll find more crud in front of the piston which eventually builds up & jams it so you get clutch drag or slip.

I showed a mate how on her 14 Friday night as she'd been suffering clutch drag recently.

Exactly correct Hooli. Those screws can be tight first time. Clean it, fit busa seal, give pushrod some love, clean, oil n grease mixture. Then on use VMX, cuts down crap build up and chain lasts much better. Spray on lube👎👎IMO.

Hooli

Aye, I always use a chisel on the side of their heads to crack them free Grog. Not even worth trying a screwdriver if they've not been out recently. one of two sharp cracks breaks them loose & then they work fine.

Yup , slave cylinder was done as well , it already has a busa seal fitted last time I serviced bike ,clutch rod cleaned and polished, all crud removed, chain lubed with said gear oil. Went on a shake down run yesterday (sun) everything is tickety-boo.  :onya:

I installed a 2nd Auxiliary plug on the R3GT, there's a mount & wiring especially for it already there.  The wiring is permanently live so is ideal for a battery tender, which is what I've plugged in to it.
Just another wee thing ticked off.  Happy as with the bike.

Oh, I started and ran the Black 14 for a while today too, fired right up straight away. Thinking of how I can now get it out on the roads for a run.
😎  Always looking for the next corner.  😎
