I'm looking for advice from some of you more tech savvy folk.

I'm looking for a set of in helmet plug-in speakers that are loud enough to hear with earplugs in.
I don't want to be messing around with Bluetooth or charging them up .
Just for to helmet plug in to my phone and go .
I've tried the cheap Chinese options ones for under£10 and yes you get what you pay for rubbish.

So over to you lot .

Seth... I think that's going to be a challenge mate... most of the kit available is helmet specific and is Bluetooth.  Question will be what helmet are you wanting to fit these to?  Like you say... cheap speakers are crap speakers...
I looked some time ago for a similar solution for the Shoei... I could get speakers the right size, with decent sound.... but not being able to fit them properly in the helmet was a no go for me so ended up the Senna kit... more kit than I needed but hey ho....

Another option could be moulded in ear types?  Would mean you wouldn't need earplugs...

@ Seth  Have a look at iASUS XSound 3 High Definition Helmet Speakers ... a bit on the expensive side for a small speaker but get good reviews.

If you are just looking for some standard speakers to modify to fit your helmet look for something with high sensitivity, at least 110 db.
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

Or go full monty Seth with a senna headset, you can have phone, spotify and sat nav fed stright from your phone via Bluetooth though :onya:

That's the problem I don't want full on surround sound just to be able to hear my phone's satnav app when I need it finding a hotel ect  but the rest of the time I want to be no distractions.
Really can't be bothered with the hassle of charging Bluetooth kit.
Just plug and play .

I used to regularly buy the cheapo chinese kits. Now I buy over ear headphones, gut the speakers out of them and run with that.
In November I bought a bulk lot of Sennheisers, eight headsets for $30.
Great sound quality, I find myself having to turn the volume down, even at "highway speeds" which is a first.
And for the allday rides I don't have the added battery drain of bluetooth yet I got "chunes for days brah"

I have a SENA SF1, great music and phone sound quality, until the Garmin cuts in. The Garmin chick in my ears screams at me, and is rather like this:

The initial attraction to motorcycling inflicts people for various reasons and at different stages in their lives. But once someone experiences the elation of riding a motorcycle there's no denying the nearly spiritual effect it has.

I wear a Shark lid with Sharktooth  Bluetooth system.
I always use ear plugs when riding and I can hear the music perfectly..I can still hear the noise of the bike too :onya:

I use these moulded plugs with built in speakers, Expensive, but work the best of what I've tried, I'm very pleased with them.
Looks like they've gone up in price, but I ordered mine on a special offer at a bike show:
