Right then,do some models come from new with polished casings and some black...
Seen a couple of k2/k3 photos and the brochure photos when new show polished but some bikes have black.
Are there variations on models etc

Some specials (like the Yoshimura version) but which were not sold in the U.K. had black cases. That aside, all production models had lacquered polished casings.
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

It was called the GSX1400 Jubilee Grog (no idea why the Jubilee) - to the best of my knowledge it was only produced by Yoshimura themselves to customer order, and then only for the Japanese market.

The only other model I've found with black casings was the GSX1400K5z which was made only for the Japanese market and which which had Gold wheels, Black engine, Black headlight, Black Chrome exhaust, Black Fork sliders and Black rear suspension coil springs – all other details remained the same as the standard K5.

The standard polished lacquered finish is crap .

I think my bikes shiny bits look great. a bit of work put into them but not really that much. i like the contrast to black. my engine black is superb, thanks to s100, my shiny is autosol and my polishing. protected by Bowdens Fully Slick..

You guys have lots of free time to polish like that 😂😂

I've lived next to the sea for the last 30 years if I polished anything it would be dull before I got into the house from the garage .
Powder coating as much as I can so a quick wash and all is good again .

The best I've seen is old org member phi360. He did more off road than on, got the shits when the bike shop wouldn't fit knobbies to the 14 but nurtured a pretty mean cobweb.
If you look like your passport photo then you're too sick to travel.

I did 10k of unexpected unsealed road yesterday collecting my bike from my dyno guy in Bega
No warning just missing bitumin, my bike looks horable now 🙈
