Hi all,

I dont suppose you know the spade connector size that goes onto the horns do you?
I am thinking of getting a "piggy back" connector for the USB socket to plug into..
I may even go a bit overboard and piggy back both horns into 1 feed to the USB socket..

Anyway, spade size please ??

You want the blue (6.3mm) piggyback connectors Simon

(if you need to check, measure the ones on there now  :onya:)

Having said that I'd consider using Posi Tap Connectors (search for them on eBay), much neater and easier to fit and will go up under the tank, so not having 2 lots of wires showing
Nothing to do.............all day to do it....I love retirement

Thank you Mr Barmy once again...

Off the top of my head I think the horns are earth switched, so if you just connect to both wires your USB charger will only work when the horn sounds.

red, blue, yellow spades all the same, its the wire size that changes. only one power take off req. for usb from horn. just check with multimeter which is powerside, yes it will work without sounding horn unless you use wrong side. . i use one horn for usb, other for gear indicator. its a basic 12v power supply to both, very good as fused and turns off with key. piggy backs are my way. hope this helps. usb will only draw 2.5 a max, thats for tablets, laptops etc. phone only 1.5 from memory, could be wrong.

Horns are permanently live with the ignition on.
The horn button sounds the horn by earthing it.

I make up a T-piece connection to take power off the horn,
and run the earth wire to the horns mounting bolt to the frame.

You are correct Hooli.
as far as I remember the live wire is nearest the frame..
But I will double check.
I plan to make a mini harness and use both horn feeds to power a twin USB outlet.
I will do it in such a way that the wires wont show..
1 common earth elswhere on the bike (probable the coil mounts on the frame) but 2 positive supplies spliced into the single power lead to the usb device.
I am thinking of "piggy back" spade connectors to the positive horn connections.
That way theres no permanent damage to the bikes harness and it can be removed without trace if I need to.

I can see the theory working ok.

I'd just mod the loom slightly as I never plan to sell bikes & as I know I did it properly it doesn't bother me.
