I was quoted $300 to re do my seat. I thought that not too bad. New foam, new cover and piping. Has lasted 10 yrs, can see a few ripples in cover but still comfy.

Hooli

I did mine myself with about £15 of material off ebay & a new staple gun. Doesn't keep the original pattern but it's less slippy in the wet so a big bonus.

The trick is to pull it very very tight as you attach it.

$300s not too bad. Did you do it because it was uncomfortable but still in good condition or because it was damaged or worn out? It's a shame I can't ride for too long. This must be addressed.

That's cool! I like DIY but hesitant because I don't want to "ruin" such a nice original seat. That's why I was looking at those french seats so many people seem to have.

If you're original cover is ok you can reuse it. It's not glued to the foam in my experience. Mine has split so needed replacing, I think it came out pretty well for a first go. I started in the middle & worked towards the ends to avoid getting creases, the slight ones you can see went after a day or two as they were from how the material was folded when I got it.

That does look good. Comfy. How long can you sit on it? How long do we really need to be able to sit on them? I expect after a certain time it's good to hop off and stretch and freshen up anyway.

Hooli

As long as a tank of fuel will last. It's the standard foam underneath.

Mine not worn out, just can see ripples that werent there b4. Can sit on my seat for a whole day. Just no pain , even better with sheepskin on, double skin for wife. Most comfy bike ive owned. SA, find a great seat maker. Guzzler in Brisbane superb, have a search. Postage not that much. He made mine.

I've gone full 'old man' & just ordered a heated jacket & trousers. I've got a heated vest & had the trousers last year until they broke. I fancied warm arms & shoulders too, as the cold makes an old shoulder injury ache.

I broke the trousers last year as the plug to the vest/jacket is a daft design. Got a refund on them back in feb so last years warm legs where free. I've got some right angle jack plugs & socket to make a fly lead & avoid the same problem this time.

£330 is a lot for stuff to go under leathers, but still cheaper than textiles that are warm enough to not need heating.

Oh & it's not really a 'buy', but my tumble dryer was under recall as it's one of the indesits that catch light. Got contacted by them today & the new one arrives 2nd Nov for free. Even better as I was given the dryer over two years ago

Tally

Look what arrived in the post today  :smitten:  :boogie:

You'll be amazed how much better they fit the screw heads even though they look identical.

Been searching for a digital tyre inflator for a while. Snap On/Bluepoint and Wurth are great. We have each brand at work, just make life easy. So easy to do bike tyres. I kept searching as they are around $110. Results were, just a generic Chinese made, re labelled for each brand. Accuracy is spot on, quality is also. Purchased the no name, exact same thing, Off EBay $21. Sure is a mark up for brand names.

Hooli

Yeah brand names used to mean better, now they just seem to mean costs more.

Blubber

This... with the rest of the bike in bits with it.

To me... a proper man cave puzzle  :smitten:

For the PO it was a failed attempt to do a café racer project.
