grog

Grew up with fireplaces, combustion stove. Stove heated our water and cooked. Learnt to drive at around 8 yrs, that was so i could drive old ute  up the back to collect firewood. Living in the bush was incredible childhood, had my own rifle, chainsaw, axes etc. Chopping wood, cutting sticks, cleaning out fireplace, just not something ive ever wanted to do since, just turn the A/C on, like it.Ute was a Dodge Fargo, i still remember the flogging i got, threw a bit of wood thru its rear window.  :) Other story, fire threw a cinder into lounge , old man was talking to a customer, werent allowed to interrupt, i didnt. When he finished i told him, still remember dragging it out into yard, another belting. He wasnt at all bad, just how he did things, all good in my books.

Brilliant childhood Grog of which you can be very proud..
The 1st book I ever asked my parents for Christmas at the age of 8 was Tom Sawyer (Followed by Huckleberry Finn)..
I really related to their adventures and free spirits..
No Bullshit Health & Safety and no Mind destroying computers or mobile phones..
We went out to play when the sun rose and came home at dusk for tea/Bath/Bed

Kids now really do not know what a crap childhood they have..
Brainwashed into subservience !

I know where it is, about 8 metres away from this pic in another shed beside a classic boat that has the same type of motor, the plan is one day it will be towing that boat.

Side valve 6 cylinder?Bloody heavy old motors.

That's the one. It's all about torque, where used in trucks, combines, forklifts and airport tugs.

A month or two's drinking water for my wife.

Really should look at getting a proper 2 stage canister + UV filter but that'll be part of a bigger job as I want to get a new pump for the house and use this pump on the sheds.

She seems to think the bird poop on the roof, frogs in the gutters, smoke ash from the log burner and the dust etc isn't ideal for her health.

Tastes fine to me!  :happy1:

Hooli

Where does she think the minerals in volcanic spring water come from?

I'm guessing they filter the bird poop and frogs and other stuff out though...  :happy1:

When I was in The Falkland's I was the Detachment Commander and one of my duties was to be fully aware of everything that went on.  While checking how the water on the mountain was collected and processed I found that all waste water was put though an agitator/aerator before being pumped out onto the peat bog.  Fresh water was pumped up from a stream further down the mountain.  Tasted fine and there were no side effects (that I Know of).  :)
Keep the rubber side down.          Mick

We have a two stage canister and UV filter it's great, we collect and drink our roof water.... 60,000 litres of it, our tanks are overflowing at present. Great storage for watering the brides garden in summer.
Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

I'm holding about 141,000 ltrs at the moment. Maybe a years worth if I was careful.  My goal was always to live as if I had mains, but without it.

I'm putting another tank on my field shelter and the house and shed tanks will overflow to another in the veggie garden / orchard.

The "experts" all told me "Oh, on tanks you can't flush the loo unless it's number two, no long showers etc etc". We live as if we had mains and never have to skimp. Tanks regularly over flow.

My creek / spring hasn't stopped flowing in 2 years. I always have the option to pump up from that and may do if I get cattle or livestock.
