Sorry I cant help you Red .... but it does sound like a fuel problem ! is the pump priming when you turn the igntion on ?

It is Shane, actually runs for a few seconds if I keep the revs up but then dies!

I've just spent most of the day sorting my bike out after it stopped dead 40 miles from home yesterday, called the RAC out and they called out a B/Down truck to transport me home.  This morning I checked the obvious, sparks, air an fuel.  Clean air filter, good spark but when I pulled a plug it was dry and I had tried several times, as did the RAC to start the bike.  Out with the fuel pump and it all fell apart as I removed it from the tank, the pressure release valve had pushed the retainer clip off and popped itself out, turn the key on the and the pump primes but with no pressure the injectors did not get fed.  I made a cage to sit over the pump housing to ensure that does not happen again, refitted it and the bike started up straight away.  So I had a 5 1/2 hour wait yesterday to get home, at least it was dry and warm.  My bike did not run at all but it might be worth a look Red in case you are loosing most of your pressure but it's enough to start.

It could be the Pressure Regulator clip has come off of the fuel pump inside the tank. If you have an electrical tie and can get the pump out that will sort it to get you home

its a real strange one !  it could be pump not keeping the pressure up but it could be electrical or any number of things  :confused1: its realy tough to help from a distance the only thing is to start with the simple stuff and go from there .... sorry i cant be of more help !

Is it worth twiddling the idle speed adjuster?
Stranded without tools so calling van man now !

Andre

At least it can't  hurt to twiddle :whatever:

Red Biker

Consensus seems to be the clip on the fuel pump so will check that first.

Thanks for everyone's input 👋

Sorry to hear of your problems Red.
I have had maybe 3 instances in 50,000k when the bike has decided to run like yours. Each time l have then gone to the gas station, filled it up and my issues have disappeared and I have no idea why.

Another great day on the right side of the grass.😎

Only just seen this, wish i had last night as i could have brought tools.. So whats the news? get home ok? work out the issue? is she running?
So if i do stuff all all day and noone sees me do it.. Am i still a lazy git?

Red - I got stuck in Ireland a while back with a frustrating problem - it turned out to be the rectifier!
I spent a couple of days in Dublin figuring this out but thankfully the local shop knew the problem.
Safe riding!
I need to go somewhere I've not been but won't know until I get there!

If you've not found it yet check the vacuum pipes too. If one of them is off it won't run at low throttle settings, guess how I found this out after balancing throttles....
