Are fork tubes interchangeable ?

Hi guys,

I've got some nicks on the fork tube sliding length of my 1400.

Would I need a GSX1400 specific tube, or are they pretty generic across a range ?

No the forks were changed
K2-k4 are the same k5 on are the same as each other  but are not interchangeable between early and later models

You need to use the same as you have

Can you get yours rechromed anywhere locally to you as that's the best thing to do .

What ticks me off is that I caused the marks on them, tapping (or trying to tap in) the dust seal. I'm actually going to run with it for the time being. I've taken mild edges off, and hoping it won't be enough to drastically effect the seals and give me time to locate another.
If anything I've learnt be VERY carefull around the stanchion.
I've located a used set of complete forks of an 07 model, but they're wanting $800 for the pair.....little too pricey for me.

If you can get complete pair of forks of an earlier model they will fit you just can't swop internals between earlier and later models
If you've cleans off the rough edges and have a hole left use clear nail varnish to refinish the tubes untill you can get them sorted .
Temp repair at best .

Complete fork legs new are $1250.50 each so if the pair aren't too bad I don't think $800 is a bad price. Stanchions are $448.40 each new. Trying to save a dollar when you haven't got the right tools can be expensive.
